So who's going to paint Hera's A-Wing?
I dunno, the markings are kind of cool but overall that's a fairly blech colour scheme.
I like the Kanan image on it. So married.

Nah, it's a special issue Plot Armour Rune imagery
Are the thrust vectoring fins something special on the Rebels A-wings?

Nope - they go right back to The Essential Guide to Vehicles (and later, Complete Cross Sections)
Rebels A-wings do look a bit larger and and their cockpits a bit roomier - but that might be because the Databank stuck the ship as 9.6m long, and the TV series had to conform to it rather than to the ROTJ movie shots.

Oh no, a kids show doesn't kill off its main cast within the first two season! Obviously bad writing.

I think we've gone over how the A-Wing in ROTJ wasn't always the same size in different shots due to model scaling.

Yup. Even the "biggest ROTJ A-Wing" (going by the debate in the A-wing sizes threads), was more like 7m than 9m though.

Obviously we need to go over it again! And again!
Maybe Rebels versions "replace" the movie ones - whenever you see a movie A-wing - visualise it as more like a Rebels one?
My personal belief is that at some point, more than likely after the empire started production on the tie interceptors, the rebels A-wings were refitted to be lighter and faster to compete. That's the only explanation I can think up.

No, that would mean that there are TWO different A-wing models! And we can't have that!

...Chaardan Refit model
So... Kanan is the bombshell pinup of the series.
I didn't really think a refitting made it a new model of A-wing.

Actually that's the definition of variant, which gets a new designation. Basically it would be a new model.
BTL-B, BTL-S3, BTL-A4, all Y-wings, all very different.
Call it RZ-1b, or RZ-2. Or R-22. Or whatever.
Sadly, I doubt A-wings are revisited for a long time.... I so want a Hera A-wing pilot card now.
Maybe they will do a Rebels (Like the Most Wanted) pack and include new pilot cards with out new minis. No need for new A-wing and B-wing minis, but I want my Hera Pilot cards!
I think you're over analysing the rule of cool. The source material is an animated show with a specific aesthetic design. I argue the animators are not at all interested in the exact design specs and rather replicating the iconic ships within the same design parameters as the show.

I dunno... They're pretty good on making things look functional and well detailed, tbh.
Why does TFA get special treatment for Star Wars spoilers? I understand it's a much bigger deal, but a lot of people haven't seen the new Rebels episode (myself included, it's been less than 24 hours) - why do we need to outright spoil this stuff in post titles?

Sub titanium gold for the center section, dark aluminium for the grey metallic and an off white for the flash. Should look pretty cool for the scheme.

Somehow, I'm cool with this.
Maybe they are R22 Spearheads.

They're clearly stated as being RZ-1s

This just seems to be an earlier version
