BBX70?

By Darkcloak, in X-Wing Squad Lists

So looking at classic builds and BBXX stood out as one that I could potentially do right now with the stuff I already have. Well, I only got one T-65 and a T-70 so...

Anyways, here it is.

Biggs 25

Blue Ace 27

Blue Squadron + FCS 24 x2

That's 100 on the nose and brings a lot of red dice and a lot of hull/shields.

What do y'all think of the inclusion of some new tech to the classic list?

I'm Down. BA is a squiggly bastard, so he can do the farther out protection that the slower B's need while Biggs escorts and lets them punch above their weight.

And then when you need to turn them big B's around BA can just hard turn and boost right up!

Serously, I love Blue Ace. I find I just always boost with that hard turn. Blue Ace is definitely a T-70 pilot you can afford to run stock, I mean, you're just gonna boost boost boost!

Agreed. The only upgrades I'd consider are taking that into consideration:

  • R2-D6 lets him take an elite pilot talent. Predator gives him a 1-die reroll that he gets even when boosting, whilst Adrenaline Rush lets him pull one of the most deranged manoeuvres in the game - Tallon Roll followed by a 90 degree boost.
  • R7-T1 lets you get a free target lock to go with your boost if you're caught in someone's arc of fire.

what do you think about running 2 BTL-A4 TLTs instead of the Bs? I don't currently own B-wings and want to try something similar?

Well I ran this list today and...

Blue Ace didn't get to boost! Just didn't happen for him. I got all janky and pulled him away too soon and he got smoked. I could have boosted once maybe, but I ended up pulling a red through a debris cloud and lost the plot. The B's and Biggs did great though.

One thing with the B's. You have to be good close in or the opponent will just dance away from you.

If you wanted to put BTLA TLT Y's in there, I don't see why not. You might be looking at dropping a ship to fit in those Y's though my math could be off. The thing with the BTL A4 Y's is that you need to keep the enemy in arc, and even though the B has a lot of red on her dial, she is way better at turning around. All you need is room for that 2 speed giddyup and you're golden. Now TLTs want to stay at range and your enemy wants to close that gap. Having two solid X-Wings around can help keep people from entering that zone for free. Biggs is Biggs and he will smash face wherever he goes. Blue Ace will always impress in a knife fight because that extra hard turn is so deadly. So yeah YYX70 can totally be a thing, but I think the Y's are just so different, and the TLT brings such a different game you'd probably only be hurting yourself taking any advice from this thread. Well, except the part about Biggs and Blue Ace.

B-Wings and X-Wings though! What a great pairing.

I'm going to fly this list more because I think I really it.
