Honestly it's a meta call based on who you think you'll be playing against. Looking at some stats I have from top lists in the last year+ (http://xwing.miniranker.com/stats.php?s=2015-01-01&e=2016-01-27), you'd be good 96% of the time.

My opinion, though - don't take Soontir with Whisper as you will be in a conundrum about giving or taking initiative. Soontir wants to move last, but Whisper wants to shoot first. I would consider trading Soontir for Carnor Jax, or Whisper for Vader.

As noted above, this is a catch-22 for your aopponent - either way they are facing someone they really didn't want going after them and someone they really did want going before them.

A matter of perspective really,
Having Whisper and Soontir at 100pts:
Could mean that there's a downside.
Could mean that there's a benefit.
In this case, there's often both.
However, if you instead planned to have better control of Initiative, then the drop to Carnor instead of Fel would free up those points, and if you only wanted better PS, then taking VI Vader over Whisper would be ideal.
There is no single right choice here, it all depends on you - the player.

I like it more with Juke or VI on Vader, Lone Wolf just seems too likely to wind up failing with three fast, evasive aces on the board, and Juke, in particular, is probably better overall on a ship that can do focus/evade every round. But it does look vicious. As I said on the previous page, it's a shame I don't own an Advanced, or a Raider, or enough Jukes.

VI is a waste of an EPT on Vader unless you absolutely only have one point left to spend and nothing to spend it on. I'd say Juke is just about equal to Lone Wolf and which I'd choose heavily depends on how I decide to fly him. Close formation Juke is obviously better, flanking would make Lone Wolf better. Lone Wolf also makes Vader a monster if your opponent is foolish enough to leave him til last. It also has the benefit of making Vader a higher priority target which takes the heat off of Omega Leader who also benefits from the longer game.
VI lets you go after VI Poe which can be HUGE. Not to mention that guaranteeing you move last can be very valuable against the likes of Soontir and Whisper.
Plus, the point of init bit is not to be sniffed at.

I don't disagree, it's just playing with the idea of almost always having the advantage in Ace vs Ace scenarios regardless of initiative
Soontir will move last or whisper will shoot first, and VI Vader is there in case of a PS10 bid like Poe. Once the enemy ace is down, you probably outbid most of their other pilot skills.
Vader is also the imperial ace who can be stripped down the most and still function, so it actually kind of works.
37 is sort of a magic number for Imperials, so you can swap in a lot of stuff for Whisper or change things around as you like.
My opinion, though - don't take Soontir with Whisper as you will be in a conundrum about giving or taking initiative. Soontir wants to move last, but Whisper wants to shoot first. I would consider trading Soontir for Carnor Jax, or Whisper for Vader.

But this is made clear from the start, when initiative is chosen. If I am the opposing player, I now know who will be my first target. You could use that as bait, but that is one less ship for optimum positioning and shooting capability.
Question, if you're running VI engines Vader, do you go with Prockets or Ion Pulse Missiles?
Prockets seem better but the control that IPM's bring may help me in the fat turret matchup, and arguably against Poe.
I don't run him with anything, as he already costs as much as soontir once you through in Vi EU and ATC.
What is your third ship?

Vader with ATC, Engine Upgrade, VI, and a 3 point Missile.
Epsilon Squadron Pilot.
97 points.
I suppose Advanced Homing Missiles are also a possibility.
