Seems the new episode tonight is the one with the Mandolorian fighter chasing Hera, Sabine in A-wings.
New Mandolorian fighter tonight
Oddly enough, they had this episode down as [season 2, #17], when it should really had been put down as #12 or #13 (depending whether the first episode "Siege at Lothal" was a two-parter or not).
However, it really was a nice-looking fighter.
Edited by SentinalIs season one on disk yet? I don't have t.v.
I like this new backwards Scyk. I tried figuring out why the wings spin, and I came up with two actually decent reasons.
1: The ship's wings, and this was no bit of chance, often aligned with horizontal position of the target's ship when pursuing.
2: Agility! If the thrust vectoring isn't a 360 gimbal, just an up-down thrust vector, changing the wing's alignment may allow better maneuverability.
3: Finally, cockpit stabilization. Not TERRIBLY important but I'm sure that's useful here and there. The B-Wing uses the same gyroscopic technology.
It's a decent design.
I was really liking the ship... until the wings start to spin around in frenzy mode. Nothing like lining up a shot with good pilot skill and then turning on the randomizer like you are a stormtrooper with a gatling gun in a starfighter.... and then I was sad...

See point one. I paid cloooose attention to that.
Remember it's a kids show, kids love things that spin. But it did look nice, and I would buy a few in the game. Give it a new move, a 4 reverse with a double stress (that's the best way to get the loop behind a trailing ship as it did in the show)

You forgot to mention that they might have just thought it looked cool. Like Mrk1984 said, being a kids show and all, spinning things usually do well with that crowd. Oh, and it makes merchandising a little more fun. "Mom, mom! I want the one that spins!"

Well duh.
I was outlining the potentially practical reasons.
It's the Gauntlet Fighter, which isn't really new.
Databank entry is weird though, because it says the ship carries 24 troopers. Which, from the picture, you can see the pilot in the cockpit for scale. There's just no way.
Gauntlet's cockpit is near the back:

I think the Databank isn't quite up to date.

Oh wow. What a big mistake on their part.
Dude, like. Whoa. WTF StarWars.com? That is a "Gauntlet" Fighter but they screwed up bigtime.

VERY different ships.
And the Gauntlet itself is the smaller of the two Kom'rk variations - there's a larger 68m one, recognisable by the cannons jutting from the prow prongs.
Edited by IronlordMandalorians went to **** after Traviss left.
I don't know - report has it that this character (Fenn Rau) is pretty much the canon version of Traviss's "Mando instructors of clones".

He was also in yesterdays issue of Kanan, #10. During the Clone Wars battle that Kanan mentions in the episode. I love how that was done so seamlessly.

Child soldiers? Yeah, that did seem odd, as the fighter in the picture clearly doesn't have any extra space for troops.
Really novel how the cockpit rotates for zero practical effect.

VERY different ships.
Here is a picture of the one from Rebels. Seems like a single person version of the Komr'k, which could hold lots of people.

Can anyone estimate how long that ship is?
I'd ballpark it as about half as long again as the Rebels A-wings - so, 15 m or so? Same size as a Y-wing?

I saw that as the new fighter doing a speed 1 forward, while the A wings did say, a 3 forward. Basically the rebel player anticipated the wrong move, expecting the Mando scum to do a k-turn or something else.
More like he did a full stop.
Probably equipped with an illicit upgrade! A reverse move would be interesting though but I think I'd rather it be extremely limited. Maybe a unique pilot ability that gives multiple stress and even perhaps an Ion token.
Assuming they get things sorted out in the sizes, it looks like there are 3 mandalorian ships of similar design:
The single or 2-man fighter from the recent Rebels episode
The Aka'jor shuttle with the tipping whings which was seen in Clone Wars
The Kom'rk 50 to 60 metre long troop transport/personal shuttle of Pre Viszla, bigger than the Ghost, so about the size of the Assault Carrier or thereabouts.
Those three ships could make an excellet Scum wave, or even a single ship in a Scum wave and an Epic ship and its support. Kom'rk/Gauntlet double pack, anyone?
