A "Friendly" Race

Hi everyone

Our local friendly league just finished for now and as a chill before the store championship they are hosting a "pod race".

Everyone get 40pts to spend on a single ship. Killing each other will be highly recommended by the store owner. So what would you lovely people take ?( I'm may shamelessly steal you ideas )

I'm thinking currently:

2x Prockets

Seismic Charge

MK2 engine

do you actually need to go fast? or is it just a free for all murderfest?

Seems like something with a turret would be the obvious choice if you're racing. Lets you fly straight towards your objective while not bypassing any shots on other ships.

I have a turreted Y-Wing as a back up list (it also has bombs for the giggles)

But where's the fun in not killing everyone on the board? I have considered a kwing slam but I thought I'd go for silly

Here are some options I thought of:

"Fast with a Side of Defense"

Colonel Vessery (35) + TIE/x7 (-2) + Engine Upgrade (4) + Push the Limit (3) -- This way you can execute a green 5 straight plus a boost, then Push the Limit so you have both a focus and an evade for avoiding the mayhem behind you.

"Anything You Can Beep, I Can Boop Better"

IG-88C (36) + Push the Limit (3) + Electronic Baffle (1) -- Same idea as Colonel Vessery above. Your fastest straight maneuver is 3, which, combined with a large base and a boost, is the same speed as a small-based ship's 5-speed straight plus a boost. Just like Vessery, you'll get an evade and focus along with your boost, but you'll also have the ability to avoid a stress in exchange for a damage if needed. You have an extra 2 hit points to play with there. The downside is your large base will be easier to block.

"Droppin' Bananas"

Miranda Doni (29) + Leebo (2) + Ion Bombs x2 (4) + Extra Munitions (2) + Advanced SLAM (2) -- Each turn, you can either SLAM and then boost (if you're not ionized from the turn before, you're 1 faster than IG-88 or Vessery; if you are ionized, you're 1 slower), or boost and then use your primary weapon turret shot to recover a shield. (Or instead, you could boost your attack if you have the opportunity to knock an opponent out). In order to make much use of your bombs, you'll have to get out ahead of your opponents; once you do, though, they're gonna be stuck back there.

"Throwin' Bananas"

"Deathrain" (26) + Sensor Jammer (4) + Ion Bombs x2 (4) + Extra Munions (2) + Engine Upgrade (4) (edit: whoops) Autothrusters (2) -- With this one, you're a little slower than Miranda, but it should be much easier to catch your opponents in your bombs.

"Not So Fast"

Moralo Eval (34) + Ion Cannon (3) + Tactician (2) + Zuckuss (1) -- You won't be the fastest on the table, but you're a large ship with a 4 straight maneuver, 12 hit points, and the ability to really slow down someone in front or even beside you. You won't care much about stress yourself because all your fastest maneuvers are white and you're not relying on the boost or SLAM actions, although you also won't have much in the way of dice modification.

Nera Dantels can fire torpedoes outside of her arc. There might be something there?
