Announcing X-Wing System Open!

By Rogue Dakotan, in X-Wing

YAWN...

;)

Details are light, but I like the idea of having each competitor fly each faction.

Edit: Details are not light.

Looking forward to the scyk/attack shuttle/tie bomber showdowns.

I think that is a very cool format for the event.

Well, here's that Euro-focused event that everyone was complaining about.

Not even interested in those sweet promos Joe?

Pretty soon Frank'll be leading the masses in day-long cheers of PEW-PEW-PEWwww!!!

Looks like a cool format and nice to see a Euro-focussed event, but I only really have one faction and probably am only going to collect two total. And would get my rear end handed to me on a plate at a national event. So I'll just have to watch it on Twitch :)

Especially the 'vote to require play' thing. I'm hoping it will wind up showcasing some of the more obscure builds, but nothing that is just flat out in need of a fix. I'm interested to see whether it will be a ship type or a specific pilot, too.

E: nice goodies too.

The U.K. Nationals is normally that weekend at the uk games expo. Is this replacing nationals and invitations to worlds for European players?

I assume the finals in London is the event where they will be officially providing the Biggles card as swag? :P :D

I have tickets to Celebration already, so hopefully like Worlds you'll be able to watch the matches. Be great to watch (I assume lol) Paul Heaver play live. Or anyone else at this top level. That'll be most of my Celebration sorted :P

Good lord, those look amazing. I guess that answers the question of what full bleed artwork of the champion cards would look like. Here's hoping we get these of the World's winners like they did for Netrunner.

I am really liking this. It sounds like it won't be just the standard 100pt dog fight over the three days. Looking forward to this. (Que other games' jealousy and/or location frustrations)

Boo! Asia not included as expected.

Sounds pretty exciting and the swag .....*drools*. But alas can't participate.

I live in Schaumburg! Giddy factor 10!

On one hand, it impacts me in no way. I live way too far away from IL to make it affordable. I can't make it. Won't get any swag or anything. I'm OK with that.

I do like that you have to fly certain things in your lists. That makes it interesting and more of the player winning, instead of the list. That's pretty cool.

This can give us some better results for ship types and different lists. I can see people taking a greater variety of lists to an event like this. It can really open the meta up. It will give greater results than just what we have been doing now.

Personally, I'd love to see a series of tournaments that were story or mission based. I knew there was a big announcement coming up this year, but it really doesn't impact my local game play in any way.

Let the campaign for X-wing/Punisher/(Firespray or Hound's Tooth) begin!!!!

Well for the country events, you can take a normal list and aren't forced to take anything specific or change your list around. The Hanger Bay event side you do, and once you (very luckily) get to the Coruscant top 8 in London, you have to take certain ships.

But yeah, it's a great way to run it. Changes things around a bit and stops the same type of lists. You know the community will vote for HWKs and such to be taken just to make it a challenge :P

AIN'T DAT DA TRUTH!

This is cool and all, really it is, but it's kinda short notice for an event I'd need to take at least 2 days off of work to attend(possibly more for travel on the Wednesday depending on available flights and prices), and in the US it's yet another major event in the mid-west(this part isn't so much a problem for me but is for others). Especially since I've already booked all of my PTO off for the year pretty much for GenCon(for the first time) and the usual Cons I do. Bah, I want to go....

The events are 3-4 days. And it is using a point system to determine the champion. I would be hesitant to say that they will only be running 100 pt standard games.
