Treasure in the Star Wars galaxy

By KenBenobi, in Game Masters

Hi,

I am writing a Star Wars adventure, that involves the PCs chasing a lost treasure. I want the treasure to be a cache of valuable gems or metals, but have realised that I have no idea what the Star Wars galaxy considers precious gems or metals to be?

Is there any information anywhere about precious metals / stones in the Star Wars galaxy, and how much they are worth?

I read somewhere about 'Nova Crystals' - but how much are these worth?

Any pointers greatly appreciated.

Do you have Lords of Nal Hutta? It has a short adventure/modular encounter dedicated to finding a lost Hutt treasure world.

I think they called gold, or applicable precious metal Auran? There were Flame Gems. Honestly you could just make it anything and call it rare antiquities. Then have a session finding a buyer and have something go wrong with that.

Aha yes I do - I got it for Christmas but have only skim-read it so far. Fab, thanks for the pointer, I will take a look tonight. :-)

I'd imagine it'd be a lot like our current precious metals/gems markets. Even technologically advanced civilizations need precious metals for electronics and such, so they'd still have value. And if it's an ancient treasure, as the lost ones tend to be, it's value may not be so much in it's materials as the workmanship and artistry. I know one of the adventure modules references an iridium (I think it was iridium...) mine, so I think it's a situation where you can just stick with what you know.

Krayt Dragon Pearls?

Could go the KOTOR MMO Smuggler route by locating various items so they can triangulate the last resting place of an ancient treasure ship holding artefacts belonging to a long dead royal family.

Turned out a descendant of that family is using you to find it and claim their inheritance... well OK her father does, she however isn't as ruthless.

Would be interesting if your players are cheated out of what they assume is the treasure but forced to use a near total wreck of an ancient starship it turns out IT was the actual treasure not that the PCs realise until they meet their rivals and discover they thought THEY were tricked!

I recently ran a Lost Treasure story arc.

Party thought they were just looking for gemstones, but it turned out to be a lot of lightsaber crystals.

IIRC, it is Aurodium .

Aurodium ingots, jewelry with inlaid corusca gems, ceremonial weapons or armor made of Mandalorian iron, krayt dragon pearl necklace (Made for a Hutt).

This is all really good stuff.

The adventure is tentatively called 'Force of Habit (Two Droids For Sister Sura)' and involves an old smuggling ally who is now a member of a religious order. An “Imperial entanglement” has left the PCs trying to keep a low profile on Ord Mantell while they make repairs to their ship. A chance encounter with said old friend in need of help quickly escalates out of control, leading them on a treasure hunt that brings them into confrontation with a local crime lord, rebel sympathisers and imperial forces.

"Force of Habit"

ALL THE INTERNETS FOR YOU!

Potential hijacking. but I wonder if I can start naming all my adventures after old Eastwood movies.

"Where Rebels Dare."

"A Fistful of Credits."

"The Rebels, the Imperials, and the Mercenaries."

"High Space Drifter"...

Look at the wiki page Brad linked, at the bottom there are Categories the page belongs to. This is the first step of a long lurk for the precious element you seek :)

Thanks for all the help - the adventure seed at the back of Lords of Nal Hutta was also very helpful. :-)

I'm hoping to run the adventure at a gaming convention later this year, here's the blurb...

The galaxy is in turmoil.

In the wake of the Battle of Yavin, the Empire struggles to maintain its grip on power in the midst of bloody civil war.

On the edge of the Empire, bands of scoundrels and smugglers, bounty hunters and bandits, explorers and exiles all scramble to make a living. You are one such group - the crew of the freelance freighter Good Omens .

The question is - who will secure the ultimate prize: the fabled Elemental Goddess ?
