Yet another first Fleet build post...

By Admiral Sylva, in Star Wars: Armada Fleet Builds

Hey Guys. Long time listener, first time caller.

I've played a few games and have had a whale of a time, now I'm beginning to look at entering some store tournaments and I'm looking for some input on my Rebel Fleet build that I want to test out.

Admiral: Ackbar - 38 Pts

Flagship: MC80 Command Cruiser - 106 Pts

  • Adar Tallon - 10 pts
  • Engine Techs - 8 Pts
  • Boosted Comms - 4 Pts
  • Elec Countermeasures - 7 Pts
  • Independence - 8 Pts

Total: 181 Pts

Ship: Assault Frigate Mark II B - 72 Pts

  • Wing Commander - 6 Pts
  • Expanded Hanger Bay - 5 Pts

Total: 83 Pts

4 x A Wing Squadron - 44 Pts

3 x B Wing Squadron - 42 Pts

2 x X Wing Squadron - 26 Pts

Jan Ors - 19 Pts

Fleet Total: 395

I'd love some feedback and any suggestions on improvements. This is my first squadron heavy build so my plan was to use the two ships as powerful carriers and let the squadrons do the work!

Also any suggestions on suitable objectives and whether to go first or second would be great!

Cheers Guys.

I have not gotten to play a great deal of games with squadrons yet (still waiting for mine to arrive), but how do you feel about dumping Ackbar? If bringing your squadrons to bear is the focus, 38 seems like a heavy investment for the payoff you will get compared to something that runs, say, multiple torpedo frigates.

Hell, with a little finagling, you could get 3 more squadrons, or possibly a 'vette.

Hi Sylva!

It's great to have you with us!

You're going to have to try this one out. It's interesting.

I do think that it's too dependent on squadrons. And if your opponent can nullify your squadron advantage... well... it's just not going to be a fun game for you!

And sinking half your fleet points into a huge mothership is a huge liability! The that's how the Aliens lost in the movie "Independence Day"! (So many comparisons between that fleet and what I assume is your strategy!!)
