My second attempt at a competitive Imperial fleet

By Father Bloodlust, in Star Wars: Armada Fleet Builds

Okay, I think I've got a better idea for an Imperial fleet than my last one. Basically I wanted this one to have both a strong center and enough speed to both engage in hit-and-run attacks and chase lighter ships that slip by the Star Destroyer. Think this could do well?

-Imperial II-class Star Destroyer (120)
--Title: Avenger (5)
--Commander: Darth Vader (36)
--Ion Cannons: Overload Pulse (8)
--Turbolasers: Enhanced Armament (10)
--Weapons Team: Gunnery Team (7)

-Raider I-class Corvette (44)
--Weapons Team: Ordnance Experts (4)

-Raider I-class Corvette (44)
--Weapons Team: Ordnance Experts (4)

-Major Rhymer TIE Bomber Squadron (16)

-TIE Bomber Squadrons (5) (45)

-Howlrunner TIE Fighter Squadron (16)

-TIE Fighter Squadrons (5) (40)

Total: 399 Points

Could work. I saw a list very close to the same at a tournament a while back and did pretty well. Biggest thing is Overload pulse and Avenger won't work together in the same turn if that's what you were going for. Overload pulse happens after defense tokens are used and damage is done. If you are looking for the overload pulse combo with I would drop it off the ISD and maybe drop a few squadrons and upgrade both Raiders to Raider-IIs and throw it on them. However they rapidly become expensive .

Me personally I would keep most of your list the same and drop Overload and enchanted armaments for Intel officer and XI7s. This will force your opponent into a tight spot. If shooting at lets say anther ISD you target the brace with the intel officer. This will force them to decide to brace and lose that token or take the damage. XI7s ensure the most damage you can to one side.

Thanks for letting me know on the Overload Pulse/Avenger thing. Hadn't thought of that. The XI7s could also be a good idea - redirect has been a pain in the ass to deal with in most of the games I've played.

Overload/avenger works if you're able to shoot out the front and side arcs at the same ship. First attack can overload, second attack they can't use their tokens.

I think I'm gonna replace the Avenger title with the Expanded Hangar Bay retrofit. Being able to mobilize Rhymer and four other bombers and sic them on a ship sounds like a nice ability to have.
