Leia's Y-Wing!

By Darkcloak, in X-Wing

Now, be fair to me here at least.

I honestly had no idea about the whole Y-Wing thing. It's not so arbitrary for her to pilot an N1, nor an X-Wing, but if she outright prefers a Y-Wing, hey. That's really pretty cool.

I agree Leia should not be some hotshot pilot, but provide more of a leadership/support role. I mean, she is more of a politician after all. So I'd recommended having her reduce stress on all friendly ships at range 1-2 or hand out free focus tokens or target locks. But any sort of buff would probably be thematic.

And for a lot of you posters... Why would you just arbitrarily have Leia in the N1 (?!?) or the X-Wing? We're talking about a character who has been shown time and time again to fly a Y-Wing. I understand a ton of you people "need" your X-Wing fix, thus want any and everything to belong to the T-65... But c'mon now. Ha.

it's not like we haven't had Pilots in fighter's other than their preference..

Tycho Celchu (preferred X-wings, only flew an A-wing because it was what was available at Endor, according to the novels)

Corran Horn (preferred X-wings, had his own private X-wing. never flew an E-wing in any of the fiction, though the unit he was with did in stories he did not appear in)

Guri (never flew a Starviper ever in any story she appeared in. had a custom armed yacht instead)

etc.

Don't forget Porkins who is an Y-wing pilot through and through:

You post a title in the OP but don't want to talk about it. Okay.

Taking away the arc restriction on the title makes it even better because now it's still useful after you've been passed.

Fyi. We can get a B-Wing with Ion cannon and Tactician for 28 points.

Nobody plays it!

The S3 adds an ion cannon so no TLT. And it can't fire secondaries and primaries. So no double stress except you also take R3-A2, but then you only double stress on R2 in arc and stress yourself. Which is a terribly bad build too.

Without R3-A2 that's pretty much exactly the same thing as a B-Wing with tactician, except that it can soot out of arc R2 but not causing stress.

Yeah I really love my Y-Wings, but the lack of pilots is just plain awful. For one of the most iconic Rebel Fighters, the Y-Wing sure hasn't gotten any love. Sure it can do the Stresshog or it can TLT stuff to death, but I feel like the Y-Wing lacks that army knife feel that a lot of the other Rebel ships have. You're basically putting in the Y for a cheap turret or as a stress dealer, and I think it'd be awesome to see them take to the mat in a wider variety of roles.

Maybe even make the Y-Wing good at bombing even? Who knows.

If a Rebel Veteran pack had two ships and Leia's Y-Wing was one of them, who do you think the other Y-Wing pilots would be? Anyone you want to see in a Y-Wing alongside Leia?

What about new crew cards? Can't have a new crew granting title card without new crew!

Big no to Crew on a Y-Wing. Unless it involves taking out the Turret, as the 360 turret is supposed to represent the Gunner shooting.

However if you force an Ion turret on the ship, you only stress once at R3, and whoever gets caught in R2 of a Y-Wing probably deserves 2-3 stress and an ion token.

No but seriously:

S3 Y-Wing should not have a turret slot. Even if it had one it should be locked to the front and not allow primary+secondary. Because the Crewmember is sitting on the gunner position and is clearly not a gunner... Unless you take the Gunner crew, but it's probably not the best fit.

So the easiest would be:

-1 Turrets slot

+1 Crew slot

-2 points (according to MJ, the Y-wing with only its stats and no turret is worth about 14,5 points. So 16 is fair enough i think!)
