Yeah - I've already memorized the standard name/ability pairs - While the nicknames are fun - they're not written on the cards, so future new listeners are gonna be like - "lockdown?" and it's harder to keep straight which nick is which - Zeta Ace has a 2 barrel roll - so his roll is big (high) and when he comes up next to you he says Hi! But Zeta Leader is all like - I'm the vegas man - i'll bet a stress chip - come on high roll...

I'm gonna stick with the printed names.

I think these are getting printed out at Kinkos and getting sleeved with the actual cards.

Don't listen to 'em, so daft names are mostly daft.

Those are so much better except roly poly that's a bit on the nose.

Lockdown, Zen, and Roly Poly are pure gold.

Red Ace and Blue Ace should also get some nicknames.

Stuff like this is why mynock squadron has quickly become my second favorite podcast after s&v. These are fun names that are easy to remember and, most importantly, acceptable in a family store.

I haven't finished their latest podcast so I'm not up to date on their current names, though I take it above is where they are at, but after Lockdown all are terribly disappointing.

Roly Poly? Should be Slider.

High roller? Should be Hotshot.

Zen? Should be Iceman.

In fact Slider and Iceman are why we are currently playing around with naming them after Top Gun characters.

Something like:

Omega Leader - Viper

Omega Ace - Jester

Zeta Leader - Maverick

Zeta Ace - Slider

Epsilon Leader - Iceman

Epsilon Ace - Goose

The pairs don't work out perfectly and Goose is a bit out of place, but you can't not have Goose Other potential options are Charlie, Cougar, Merlin, Hollywood (would work well for Epsilon Ace).

Agreed. Slider is awfully good for Zeta Ace.

I propose "Ocelot" for Epsilon Ace. It's what they call him to his face, because he has reflexes like a cat when his game is on, but it's really because his quality oscillates so much.

Lockdown, Zen, and Roly Poly are pure gold.

Seems to me that OMEGA Ace should be "Highroller", after all, he is the pilot that changes all his dice to the best possible result.

I like "Lockdown" for Omega Leader, he locks down the enemy dice.

I'd go with "Buzz-Kill" though for Zeta Leader, when he gets buzzed, he kills.

Rolly-Poly is kinda silly, but works for his ability.

"Zen" makes perfect sense for a stress reliever.

"Critter" is kinda meh.

Aren't you missing one? Isn't there an Epsilon Ace? (checks real quick), yeah, the one that is PS 12 for a while.

Ya, Roly Poly has to go. Critter is... Too obvious, and not very creative imo.

I'm all for Slider for Zeta Ace.

For Omega Ace, I propose "Canker", or "Thorn", representing the critical effect of not only his attack but his presence.

The rest I enjoy, although "Zen" seems counter to the Imperial feel. I thought about "Flatline" maybe, which gives him a bit of character. I would like to think that he flat lined once, was revived, and his presence in a squad bolsters them in stressful situations. Maybe a bit of a stretch.

As for the yet to be named Epsilon Ace, Mr. PS 12, I propose "Decayer". A cool, kind of dark flavor, but also represents the loss of the PS well.

I still think "Duelist" is better than "Lockdown" for Omega Leader.

I like a lot of these names. Though I'd heard Mynock calling the ps5 barrel roll ship "Barrels" making them all very characteristic of their ability. I made the suggestion of "Twelves" for obviously the pilot skill 12 TIE. The whole point of the names is to make the pilots very recognizable by a given callsign so its much easier for opponents and for yourself. Also for the cool factor from these TIEs having some more character

How about "Jackpot" for Omega Ace. At range one when you get 3 crits it sure feels like a Jackpot.

I've seen a lot of people online calling Omega Leader O'Leader which I think is clever.

It's tough to get a firm consensus, because there will always be dissenters. Ryan and I are endeavoring to be level headed about this. The worst thing we can do is flip flop on names, and confuse people even further! I take all of these posts (and emails, FB messages) quite seriously, so you all have a powerful responsibility! I mull each one over, saying them out loud, weighing their merits. Of course, the judgment is highly subjective, so please do not feel slighted if we end up disagreeing. Thank you for joining Ryan and me on this ridiculous endeavor!

This one is very on the nose, but we did like the double entendre (ease of remembering name is key). However, you guys started me thinking more on it. I think I'd like to honor Tyler and swap this to "Starslinger". I think it's still memorable, and is a more interesting call sign. Thoughts?
