Need help with a tourney list

By BenStark, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Hi folks,

Newer player coming up on my first tourney on Saturday. These are the ships I have to work with: Both core sets, A wing x2, B wing, E wing, X wing, Y wing, Millennium Falcon, Rebel Transport, TIE Fighter, TIE Advanced, TIE Interceptor x2, TIE Defender, Lambda Shuttle, and Slave 1.

Working on a Rebel build, but I'm at 96 pts and not sure what I could/should do differently.

YT-1300 Unique - Chewbacca with Veteran Instincts, Homing Missiles, Mercenary CoPilot, Weapons Engineer, Millennium Falcon, Shield Upgrade. 58 pts.

T-70 X-Wing Unique - Poe Dameron with BB-8, Flechette Torpedoes, Weapons Guidance, Cool Hand, Integrated Astromech. 38 pts.

I've got a few other builds, but I'm not sure if they would work well. I haven't had a chance to run this build yet, so I'm looking for thoughts.

Thanks for your help!

-Ben

Poe Absolutely Loves predator and r5-p9. I suggest dropping the missiles/torpedoes and putting those plus autothrusters on poe. Also keeping the falcon alive requires it being mobile, maybe to nien numb/luke skywalker, engine upgrade and push the limit on him? and upgrade to Han Solo? Then you can dish out tons of damage.

Not sure how "cookie cutter" you want to be, but a few of the upgrades seem unnecessary. Your list will work, and I'm sure you can get some use out of them, but here are my thoughts.

Chewie:

VI not really necessary here, 5 to 7 only really leapfrogs Kenkirk and Brobots, and gets you into lowbie ace levels of PS. I much prefer Predator or Push the Limits on Chewie, and even PTL is debatable because of how predictable it makes you. Not a fan of most munitions, Homing missiles included, too many points for a 1 off shot. Mercenary Copilot and Weapons engineer are OK, and they work well with the idea of a super huge homing missile, but that's a lot of points for one big boom. Title and Shields are fine, though I prefer engine on my big ships for super maneuverability.

Poe:

BB8 is fine for movement tricks, Coolhand isn't bad if there is a lot of stress in your meta, Integrated is nice, extra HP is always good. Flechettes seem kinda off here as you need to spend a TL, and poe loves him his focus.

As I said, it will work, and feel free to roll with it and have some fun, but let me throw out an alternate suggestion...

Chewie with Predator, Luke Skywalker crew, Falcon title, and Engine upgrade

Poe with Push the Limits, R2D2, Intergrated astromech, and weapon guidance.

Its far from fine tuned as you are missing some of the nicer crew cards, but the idea is that you can get into the thick of it with Chewie and you don't need your actions on the attack, as Predator is almost like a target lock, so you can spend your actions on evades or boosting to block nasty aces while you shoot their buddies. Poe circles the edge and flanks, gets good action economy and since you already want to do greens, may as well regen for it too. No need to push the limits every turn, and only use weapon guidance if you aren't going to be shot and need that focus for defense.

Alright, I'm scrapping that list. I haven't played with the T-70 yet anyway, so I'm going to go back to ships I've played with.

100pts

Han Solo + Elusiveness + Assault Missiles + Chewbacca + Millennium Falcon + Shield Upgrade

Ten Numb + Fire-Control System + Ion Cannon + Expert Handling

I've run a similar list like this before, but the Falcon got cornered and my opponent poured fire into it. The B-Wing managed to last 5 more turns, and took two ships out before it went down. I had never run either ship before either.

Engine upgrade is actually extremely fantastic on Han in place of Shield Upgrade. It prevents him from getting cornered, like you said. It also helps if your EPT doesn't stress Han. Having something like PTL or Elusiveness on Han makes him predictable because you are usually going to choose green maneuvers afterward. I would probably replace it with VI to absolutely ensure you do not get cornered or hunted down by lesser Pilot Skill aces. I would also consider removing Assault Missiles for another crew member on your Falcon...maybe Gunner? Works fantastic to help push your damage through when you use your actions to boost or evade.

The inclusion of Ten Numb is interesting Ion Cannon and his ability, but it seems difficult to trigger w/o extra assistance. It doesn't look like you have rebel aces or Scyk/Agressor to get a consistent way to crit (E2/Mod with mercenary copilot, Mangler Cannon), but that's OK.

Here are a few suggestions I would go with:

Ibtisam (38) // B-Wing (28), Sensor Jammer (4), Ion Cannon (3), Push the Limit (3)
Ibtisam is built a little defensive to deter as many enemy attacks as possible and has built in rerolls on offense/defense through using PTL. Ion Cannon gives you that control aspect it seemed like you wanted to have.
OR
Ten Numb (37) // B-Wing (31), Fire Control System (2), Ion Cannon (3), Veteran Instincts (1)
Ten gets pushed up to 10 PS and FCS helps him get consistent damage through through using Ion Cannon for control. Target lock rerolls also help generate more crits, which means Ten's ability has a higher chance of triggering.

With what you have I would play:

Wedge Antilles (29)

Push the Limit (3)

BB-8 (2)

Luke Skywalker (28)

R2-D2 (4)

Poe Dameron (31)

R5-P9 (3)

If you can borrow the Integrated Astromech cards put them on everyone starting with wedge and poe.

I love Ten Numb! But he is way better if you give him a Mangler Cannon or Marksmanship. Then he is always guaranteed one auto crit through enemy defense dice!

Also try out sensor jammer on Ten. It is SOOOO good for the points.
