Master Race and Class list from all three sourcebooks

Not sure why this keep coming up.

But face it, the choice was a marketing strategy by FFG

it allowed them time to work on Jedi which have been the thorn in the side to every SWRGP

and put out more books to make money.

I will give them credit for not making each core book a carbon copy of the last.

plus for the species they are following the "Species sell Books" model.

Its the path they chose so live with it or don't its not going to change so why fuss about it.

I'll be weird. I kind of like the release format they've chosen. Yeah, it takes more time to search for things, since all the guns aren't in one book, and all the ships aren't in another book, etc. However, with every new book that comes out, I know I will get new stuff in just about every aspect of the game. New species, new gear, new specs, new ships, new locations, new adventures, new force powers, new organizations, new supplemental rules, and so on. Sure, not every one of these areas gets expanded by each book, but, If I had to wait years in between vehicle compendiums, or weapon compendiums, or species compendiums, I'd lose my mind. With this release style, I get a little bit of everything from every book. If something doesn't come out that I was looking forward to, like Jawas for example, I can look to the next book. Heck, I didn't think I'd ever see Devaronians in any thing outside of EotE, but they're coming out in the next F&D book. If there was one species compendium, and some got left out, it would be a long while before species compendium 2, or 3. And then I would be dealing with D&D 3.5/Pathfinder all over again, where the next book might have absolutely nothing I care about.

One of the biggest problems with books in the past has been marketing books in a way that gets them into as many hands as possible. Adventures tend to be bought only by GMs. Dedicated class/career books only by those players that are enchanted by them. Campaign books only by people that enjoy that campaign. And so on. I think FFG has done a great job making their books as useful across all these areas and more. That, in my book, is awesome because if everyone wants their books then they get to keep making them. Not a book goes by that I don't see something useful. As much as I can appreciate the convenience of compilations, I would rather see them keep putting out the great products they have for as long as possible. Besides OggDude's Char Generator is the compiled info keeper I go to when I need to.

No joke. I've lost track of how many books have had to be reprinted. They are doing an awesome job getting them sold.

Yeah, say what you will about the method of delivery but they can't keep their books in stock so the fans in general must be loving their approach. Which in the long run is good for us because at least this game won't die until after all the class books are out :P

Pet Peeve -- the word here (in most instances) is " species ", not "race".

A couple of the species have multiple races presented. Gand & Aqualish, to be specific. Technically, Duros and Nemoidian are on the border between race and species.

Race also is the traditional term in gaming... since it's the term used by Professor Tolkien in reference to the Dwarven, Elven, Halfling and Human Races, all of which are pretty clearly at least subspecies, if not separate species.

Professor Tolkien was not a biologist or geneticist.

And frankly, I don't give a tinker's **** about it being a "traditional term" in gaming -- in the context of Star Wars, it's largely wrong.

It's like referring to slicers/slicing as "hackers/hacking," or quoting Monty Python during a Star Wars play session. It's just out of place.

On a personal level, that kinda stuff just grates on my nerves. Splitting fingernails, sand behind the eyelid, a squeaky clarinet in a woodwind ensemble, and calling Wookiees a "race."

:D

I have made a table for personal use, in order to help my players decide faster what would they like to play. I have combined all races, their bonuses, classes and specializations, along with skills I could find in books. Even put the pictures of races.

I hope it helps you
