Blount Force Trauma

Saw a post mentioning Blount with tracers. How about this?

Best. Name. Ever. :D

I ran a Z95 missile swarm for regionals last year (Cracken and 4 concussion Zs, one Ion Pulse) and called my list Head Trauma. It is fun to alpha strike lists to smithereens, but it is really hard to get those missiles off. I prefer concussion because with Chips you will get 4 hits more often than not, and Clusters will net around the same damage but give your opponent two chances to dodge.

Ion pulse are great, and I would keep them, but I would switch out the Assault missiles for homing missiles. It is much harder to kill aces than swarms, and aces are much more common. If Blount gets the tracer off on Soontir, the stealth device breaks and the homing missile will do at least one damage to him, probably a crit because you can reroll with the TL. Outside of that, it will be really hard to kill soontir, and that is a bit of a benchmark for lists because he is so common. Poe shouldn't be a problem, Corran can be, but is more predictable and less dodgy than Soontir because of no Autothrusters.

One final word of warning: My friend ran Boba, Guri, and a Z last year. We played a lot, and I would often kill Boba in the second round of engagement, usually with 1-2 missiles left, and 5 ships left. Guri usually had about a 50% chance to finish off the Zs by herself. She had predator and advanced sensors and usually killed a Z every 1-2 turns, and I couldn't block her. Fear arc-dodgers, they can pick you apart one by one. Looking back, Boba was probably a poor choice, but Guri often waited to engage until the 3rd or 4th round of the battle, when Boba was either dead or close to it. You have to analyze what ships you can kill with lasers, and which ships you can't.

Cheers, and good luck!

Blount with tracers is an auto hit and gives auto target locks on whatever is the primary target. That alone gives them an alpha strike on that primary, more than likely killing it round one of firing. multiple aces would be the challenge.

Well, this is awkward.

I've been trying a variant, which is simply 8 Z95s, 4 carrying Thread Tracers and Guidance Chips. It's about as dull as BBBBZ, but you end up throwing so many red dice (normally focus + TLed) against targets that eventually it burns through anything. It's just round after round of red dice and thousands of targets to shoot back at. Anything low agility is finished. After the first pass you can either scatter, or just swimlane up and down the board.

I tend to think it's a better option than less Z95s with better missiles, as ultimately if the alpha strike is a failure you're left with a weak list that'll be picked off one by one.

Well...oops.
