Help needed, Armada purchase...

By Hexdot, in X-Wing Off-Topic

...but I am a dedicated x wing player and really I will continue playing x wing. But I want to buy enought Armada stuff to play it, but not very often.

My plan is to purchase two core sets + Home one + ISD. +/- 300 bucks plus 150-200 more to buy extra ship / squadrons / whatever.

If you are a x wing fan but you also play Armada, please give me some advices. Nobody near me plays Armada, and experience is gold.

If no one plays there then buy none. Honestly I bought a ton as did others here but the game has already pretty much died and there are a bunch selling their collections now. Nothing worse than owning a game with no one to play.

Nobody plays Armada, very expensive and.not as "fast and furious" as x wing. But I play with a bunch of friends, so I will play Armada 100% sure. At first I was the only to buy x wing, now we all are into it. My ships, our ships. Comunism...

I wouldn't bother with 2 core sets. You're better off buying the expansion packs for the upgrades then you are the extra ships.

Yes you get an extra maneuver template but having an extra one of those isn't quite as handy as a extra set of templates in X-Wing. A dice pack on the other hand is quite handy, especially with ISD's throwing 8+ dice an attack.

So based on your situation which is much the same as mine, 1 core, and 1 of all expansions should be plenty.

The problem with a 2nd core in Armada IMO, is a 3rd VSD just isn't that useful, especially now with wave 2, the same goes for a 3rd Neb or CR-90. Unless you're going to play a Vette swarm, 2 CR-90's is plenty.

With X-Wing having 4 Ties or 2 X-Wings is great start for a collection, but that is not true of Armada, so you're not getting nearly the same value in a 2nd core, better by far to buy a dice pack and maneuver template.

I don't think you need two core sets. I bought two, but that was back when other expansions weren't available.

Core Set, and 1 of each expansion available will still put you under $300 (I checked priced on coolstuffinc.com).

Thanks guys. I will purchase only one Core plus Extra dice and one each. My wallet will cry but I the minis are cool.

The ISD is honestly one of the nicer models that FFG has put out. It's nice and big and very well detailed. Then you see some of the fully lit mods people post on the Armada boards and you start to cry a little...
