Newish player looking for Corran loadout advice.

By Hoffburger, in X-Wing

I'm relatively new to the game but I catch on quick and I was looking for some advice on what to put on Corran (I really loved the Rogue Squadron books so I want to build a list around him). He would either be paired with Poe or Miranda and a Z-95, two TLT Y-Wings, or just Dash. I will have R2-D2 on him and Engine Upgrade so the question is if Veteran Instincts and Fire Control System or Push the Limit and Advanced Sensors is better. I have also toyed with the idea of BB-8, FCS, and VI, but R2 seems really good for regenerating shields on that turn where you can't shoot. Anyways, any tips or advice is appreciated.

PTL and Sensors Corran will be a ton more survivable. He can't be blocked and killed with Sensors and PTL gives him the fantastic Focus/Evade combo on defense that will keep him alive under pretty heavy fire at times. If you're running VI Poe I don't think you need VI on Corran. I have found personally that I enjoy playing against VI/FCS Corran because I know he's a buzzsaw that will go down very quickly. You're basically betting on unmodified green dice with that build. Even PTL and FCS is a better option than VI to me. I'm sure plenty of people though will swear on VI.

R2-D2 is basically a must.

VI+FCS Corran is more about playing hit and run. When it works it feels awesome. PTL+Advanced Sensors Corran is in it for the long haul, betting that he can outlast whatever he's fighting, while applying steady consistent damage with threat of the occasional damage spike from double tap.

R2 for shield regeneration is key, PTL let's you turtle if caught in arc or use an action to reposition when needed.

FCS is a solid choice when your double tapping.

I think ptl fcs is the easiest way to start him.

R2-D2 is the only necessary upgrade for Corran. Engine Upgrade is still very good, but you don't have to include it on Corran if you'd rather spend those 4 points somewhere else.

I'd recommend experimenting to see which loadout you enjoy more.
