Mon mothama, the lady says NO to Rhymer balls.....

By Jondavies72, in Star Wars: Armada

After playing around with MM mc30 and CR90 lists a few times I've started to note how resistant the big MM makes double evade ships to Rhmyer/fire balls, especially at medium range.

I'm starting to think that she's at least as good as a light fighter cover with the right list.

It very much hit me the other night when I swapped out MM for ackbar, as it turns out MM would have saved me from about 5 fighter/bomber hits that got through to the ackbar ships.

Yeah, I'm seeing that a bit too as I work out my Mon Mothma list. Her effect against most Rebel squadron lists is minimal, but Imperials depend heavily on Rhymer. Being able to cancel a black die hit/crit is huge.

Maybe.

But if you are using one evade to power your TLRCs, she is only helping with one or two dice per turn. You would have to be pretty careful picking which ones to discard. Firesprays she would help less as well.

I hear no means yes.

This is actually something I avoid with Mon Mothma. She does not synergize well with TRC. My preferred ship with Mon Mothma is an mc30 torpedo frigate. The lovely lady works perfectly for these ships as she keeps their defensive tokens in the game throughout.

Don't do MM and TRCs.

Do do TRC and MM. TRC is that good. But you may want to trigger it a bit less.

Interesting comment about MM though... She makes the evade worth more than a brace against bombers, and I'd never considered that.

but if you're arc dodging, and focus firing, you should only have about 2 or 3 cr90s being fired on. which should mean the other 2 to 3 are free to TRC and be a royal pain no?

Is it sad or funny if you put Han Ol' Buddy and Dash as your only squadrons so they get suicided into the enemy to keep your CR90s uncontested a turn longer?

Acknowledged good point on the TRCs. Really a mothma list probably favours the blue corvettes with SW7s now I think about it.

Ive only played a couple of games with my Rebels so far. First I used Ackbar, then mothma. Comment from my opponent was Ackbar seems more dangerous, but mothma is much more frustrating because of her ability to not die (or at least, die a lot slower).

Not sure where this leaves Dodonna or Garm now - I think I will use Ackbar or Mon Mothma for the foreseeable future.

Settle down there, 007...

Garm, I've found, is the squadron king. The tokens help to compensate for the constant use of the squadron command.
