I am thinking it would be fun that when ships are destroyed, they are replaced by debris clouds.
Each ship produces a number of debris tokens based on its size:
Small - 1
Medium - 2
Large - 3

And every round afterwards it drifts 1 straight ahead at pilot skill 0
Sorry wrong game...
But could still drift straight ahead!

Yeah wreckage should be in this game from destroyed ships...more so even when it's an ISD that just went Kaboom.
Sure you can go around it, but when ships are in battle lines, it could be hard to avoid.
Plus it just looks cool....
As a house rule you can due this and just leave the base of destoryed ships
This is very doable! I like the idea of a size-based cloud of debris. Maybe [s|2/M|4/L|6], where the letter is the size and the number is the count for victory tokens. Then, each turn, the players alternate moving them up to 1 and flip them to the alternate side to signify they had moved. Have each overlap deal 1 damage to any hull zone.
Something from flames of war we used to do is put colored cotton balls on destroyed tanks. It would work equally well with destroyed ships. I think I'll see if I can give this a try in my next game.
Why not take a picture of your ships and put them on cardboard pieces. Then cut up the pieces into quarters. And have each spread out at speed 1 on the beginning of round following explosion. On a connection with a ship roll a blue die for a small ship accuracies do nothing, red for medium. Black for large. Once a piece does damage remove it from game.
Edited by danielhollisjaxI really like the idea as well. It would have been good if each ship expansion came with an "official" debris cloud based on their size etc.
Anything would work as a house rule, but I think it could get very complex in "official" rules around base size and placement, unless they had a standard template and the rule was "when a ship is destroyed, the attacking player must place its corresponding debris field so that it at least partially overlaps the ships base at its final location"
Ok, I love this idea! Especially with all the nose to nose ramming that happens locally when we have Imp vs. Imp. It would make those standoffs so much more fun if the winner still had to fly through a debris field.
Some really good ideas, here.
Not sure where I saw it, but someone has embedded tiny magnets in the hull of their VSD, one per hull point. Each damage card they got, they added on flame to the VSD model. I want to say I saw this on WWPD or something.
I came up with something similar for X Wing. I just used the standard debris obstacles when ships blew up. I also developed a rule that certain amount of damage would essentially vaporize (or make the pieces too small to affect anything). For example a ship destroyed by 1-3 damage leaves a debris cloud while 4+ leaves nothing.
Or make a crap cast in resin, break it up and paint it scorched.

Just dont try to sell them! ![]()

Space Rocks tried to provide us with models for armada and X-wing but the mouse didnt like that they were making money on it and not giving any of the cheese to him.
In fairness, with a bit of plasticard and some scoring/etching, you could mock up "generic wreckage" relatively easily, without the trouble of casting.
I may have to try this...
Yes, absolutely:

(Sorry for the very bad quality. Only had my phone, and it's quite dark. It looks better in real life, I promise)

SWEET!
Is that a casting, or did you chop a VSD?
Either way... SWEET!
I have liked this idea for sure. Using the flat templates although not as awesome is easier for game terms. But then again 3d terrain on the templates is even better.
Beautiful wreck Viper. I have a Space Rocks casting, and it's not as good as that. Did you make it yourself? Tutorial? ![]()
Could always take these ships...and slice them up and add some fluff?

Thanks guys!
It's not a cast, it is a chopped up FFG-VSD. I got a defective model in a core set, so I got a replacement from FFG. Instead of just throwing it away, I decided it should be used for something. It is actually a joint effort between me and a Armada-buddy from my FLGS. I provided the model, he chopped it up and did the debris field, and then I painted them. So most credit should go to my friend (although I don't think he has a username, not as far as I know anyway).
