Superior Weapons

By AceSolo5, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

So, when a weapon has the Superior quality the core rules state that it generates automatic advantage... Does that mean that you just add one advantage to the result generated from the dice pool, it doesn't make it entirely clear in the rules... Unless that's just me being a bit dim :o)

Aye, for weapons that is correct, armour is a extra soak and one less encumberance

Brilliant... Cheers for the quick response :o) Now all they need is 5,000 credits each to make the modification!

Yeah, the extra advantage granted just adds to the results pool. So if you generated 3 threat on a check, the extra advantage would just reduce the result to 2 threat.

And for weapons that have the Superior quality already (like the H-7 Equalizer from Suns of Fortune), the bonus to damage has already been factored in, so all you get is the extra advantage.

As for getting the Superior customization, one of the easiest methods is as a reward for increasing your Contribution Rank in an Age of Rebellion game. Granted, you've got to run a fair number of missions/adventures to get the group's Duty total to hit 100 enough times that you can receive a Rarity 6 item of your choice, but it can be done.

For a purely EotE game though... yeah, better start saving those credits or start planning a really lucrative job that's undoubtedly going to leave somebody brassed off at you. Because when you operate on the Edge of the Empire, things just don't go smooth.

Cheers for the response Donovan, we're currently playing an Edge campaign so they're gonna have to find the credits... And they've just managed to escape from a pirate attack which has left them with some hefty repairs on their ship... Looks like they'll have to be patient... Or very, very sneaky! Hopefully they'll get sneaky!!

I can see so many crits with the superior Lightsabers... :P

And if your 2 weapon fighting you only get the advantage from the second weapon after you spent an advantage to activate it.

Heck, you can get some nasty crits with a single Superior lightsaber that's been modified to have a crit rating of 1 and a couple ranks of Vicious.

Had one Beta playtest session where a test PC (Makashi Duelist) with a curved-hilt superior lightsaber took out an Inquisitor with a single critical, doing just enough damage to get past the Inqy's Parry before spending the half-dozen advantage he'd generated to inflict an insta-kill crit. The Inquisitor had tried to use Coercion to scare the PC, and then got a rather pointed "shut up Hannibal!" via a lightsaber blade through the throat, literally cutting him off mid-sentence

Paired, Superior Lightsabers.

Kill the things. Kill all the things.

I feel like that's the trademark of a Makashi Duelist - between Makashi Finish, Vicious, Lethal Blows, and Crit one, it's very easy to get +100 on a crit roll.
