Guidance Chips experiences?

By DavronERC, in X-Wing

Hi All

Just wondering what peoples guidance chips experiences have been?

For Me personally

Nera 33 pts

Deadeye

Proton Torps

Extra Munitions

Guidance Chips

Nera is my go to girl in a rebel list, she is so good she almost feels criminal :D

He's great for Soontir or Darth hunting where you deliberately loose the initiative bid and make them move first.

Has anyone tried guidance chips on K-wings X-wings or Y-wings? (yeah I know I'm Reb/Scum biased :P:D:P )

Cheers

Seems like Chimps would be entirely wasted on Awesome McCoolname. Initiative is nice and all, but there's near zero synergy with his pilot ability.

I'll tell you my Chimps experience. This is so sad:

None of my usual opponents have been nice enough to allow me to use new toys cuz they're practicing for store champs. Humph!

And yes, Nera is the girl for the job.

Well Nera or Drea anyways (nice to finally have something to put in the Pirate Queen's mod slot).

Mine have been, thus far, exclusively with Redline, and they make him a force to be reckoned with. It's not a big change, but in probably 6 or 7 matches I don't think I've had anything less than all hits with cluster missiles and 4-dice ordnance.

This seems like cutting off their nose to spite their face, since guidance chips will be entering the tournament-legal meta very soon (like, hopefully this week, though, more likely within the next 2 or 3 weeks, so practicing against them can't exactly hurt.

I'm really looking forward to the silly alpha strike capability I'll get with N'Dru with Cluster Missiles, Lone Wolf, Glitterstim and Guidance Chips though. 8 dice, quite likely all at least hits, should more than pay for his 25 points, and Glitterstim and Lone Wolf should keep him alive long enough to do it. My list will probably be some form of tricked-out Dengar plus this N'Dru and a Black Sun Soldier with clusters, stims and chips.

I tried out 2 Scimitar TIE Bombers with chips (with sqd leader Vader and Omega Leader), didn't manage to get a single missile shot off so yeah didn't effect me at all in that game.

Concussion bandit swarms with someone to pass the lock get 4 hits almost every time. If you can see it you can kill it.

Or they can eat all the damage and say MOAR

(I've seen it already... Soontir takes on KKKKKihraxz squad and eats up all the 15 attack dice without spending any tokens. Omnomnomnom!)

Well see, the problem with that line is that soontir was attacked with 15 dice.

(Barring the hyperbole)....

It should be ABOUT 12-15 dice. cuz, ONE KIAHSDJFKDLKSF is BLOCKING. Duh.

I didn't want to mention what happened the next turn, but if you want it, I blocked 2 paths and 2 kihraxes (One went down himself. filthy soontir)

got a clean R1 shot

Only 8 dice, punched one crit through, he lost his EPT and opponent lost his will to play on.

but still, he evaded EVERYTHIIIING at R2-3

That's when you really really want Lt. Blount at R2 with Deadeye/ACM to say:

"Do be a good chap and draw a faceup card from the damage deck. Shhhhh, no crying now..."

Of course 2 out of every 3 games he dies horribly before he gets a shot off :P

Guidance chips rocks.

Used it very effectively for huge alpha strike with 3 Z95. Now these missile slots are worth something :D

What did it accompany?

Took chimps on Jonas with predator my average was 3/4 attacks hitting.

So yeah while I still wouldn't super load up a bomber or punisher I feel alot better about spending points on ordnance now.

It was ZZZ plus 2 * T70 novices with integrated astro and targeting astro; a sweet anachronism ^^

it was my first game with the new x-wings (since I didn't buy the new starter box), and it worked quite well. The missile strike obliterated the scary Defender with TIE/D and chew a good part of the lambda's health, then the T70 punch helped me to finish the job nicely, as the Zs worked on blocking the opponents.

Redline has yet to roll below perfect hits

Might've gotten 5 hits with clusters once in five games

Been flying some Scum with the Chimps and I've got so say that they have made me use Ordnance more, almost all my lists features a chimp now.

Even if some might argue its effectiveness or if it's the 'fix' Ordnance needs, the chimps have made it more fun to use 'em, and a little less nerve-wracking to roll the dice (often without modifiers) and that's why I play; for fun.

My favorite so far has been a Hired Gun w. Dorsal Turret, Proton Torps., Unhinged & the Chimps. I used to go for the Extra Munitions, and it's fine if you have the points to spare, but I find that I've only ever got of the one salvo, and after that it's been Turret-Time til' dooms-day, or victory.

Drea's fine with them also, but conservative use of her ability is probably the way to go, spec. if you go for the R4-B11 combo.

Kavil is fine, but his schtick is turret damage, so any torpedoes is just a R3 bonus shot as far as I'm concerned. He does work well with the above mentioned combo however.

The chimps have been fine on my Z-95s also, spec. the Black Sun Soldiers with PS3. They need to get of their Concussions before those pesky PS1-2 TLT-Ys/Bs etc. start smacking you silly, which they will. Also my reason for the Hired Gun above the PS2 Thug.

N'dru is a slightly larger *censored by the galactic Empire* then he was before the chimps, but only slightly. His Lone Wolf, Cluster double-tap with Stims and lose your friends combo still works fine, at a fair pricetag. There's nothing like the feeling of leaving a Punisher/B-Wing on its last leg after one salvo.

The chimps are OK on the Khiraxsshessehisw, but for the points of most Ordnance you could also get an Engine Upgrade, boost into R1 and get your 4-dice with Stims, so...

I'm looking forward to the JM5K, seems like a fun ship to have some Ordnance on.

Well, I think he's better off with Chimp+Crack+Tracer missile

and some buddies

with missiles

curved. missiles.

WHy would Blount need crack shot, especially with the thread tracer? He literally has no need for it in that situation.

Watched a BBBY list lose a B-Wing in one turn to the one-two punch of a pair of X-Wings with Chimps: Plasma Torpedoes took 4 shields, Proton Torpedo finished it off.

How fun!

There is a local guy who ran this WITHOUT Guidance Chip and really put the hurt on everyone for a couple of weeks:

Nera w/ Proton Torp, EM, and Marksman

Dutch w/ TLT

Horton w/ TLT

Not a good shot for the first turn or two. Hard to take down one ship in one turn. Horton can fire at someone and usually damage. Nera finishes them off with 360 Proton Torp. Dutch fires at whomever is left.

Once Nera is out of Torps, she's just a regular B-wing. So, if you spent shots on her, you are still hurt by the other Y-wings.

When you have the points, VI is a good choice on Blount. Try to get that tracer shot off before you die.

This list seems to provide a decent Alpha/Beta strike and can cover a pretty wide area when you flies it right.
