I've noticed we only see the Sentinel shuttle in Rebels and it does have an appearance in A New Hope, but what would it bring to the game aside of maybe having alot of crew slots?
What would the Sentinel shuttle bring to the game?
I kind of view it as having multiple turret slots in my dream design.
Possibly a new three Crew slot upgrade bar. Or a multi Systems slot layout would be neat. A new anti pursuit weapon modification. Some nice new Imperial support abilities. A natural white stop would be fun but probably way too broken. But a definitely more robust ship for like 26+point base cost. If like to see it introduce boarding action stuff for use in Epic.
First, it'd offer the Imperials their first turret option. That'd be huge in and of itself. It could well even hold two turret slots, perhaps with a crew or system or something that lets you fire both in one round.
Second, it'd give the Imperials a new option for crew carrying, perhaps with an extra slot or two over the current options, backed by hefty shields.
Naturally there are other potential implications, varying wildly depending on just how FFG decides to build the thing, so we'd have to wait and see, but the option for Imperials using turrets and the potential combos enabled by having an extra crew slot over any of the current options could be well worth it on their own.
It could be an Imperial Ghost. Giant ship on a large base, 4 dice forward arc, turret slot, three crew slots, special titles that give it some shenanigans like (but obviously not identical to) the Ghost/Phantom double shot mechanic).
Could be fun.
It would represent another opportunity that FFG passed over releasing the GUNBOAT, this time with a fellow Cygnus design. So evil.
Another possibility for imperials to start the hype train of "We want the toys rebels got, and better than that"
and more crew options!

Not if they did both ships for a single wave. Ah, the joy of dreaming.
It would bring completion, we would have all the trilogy ships then, right?
More crew, space troopers, jump troopers, turret.
I hate to say it guys, but the Sentinel Shuttle very likely won't be the one we've known for years- the big fat wide one with all those crazy guns.
Because, as crazy as it might sound, the one from Rebels is actually much closer to the one seen in IV.

That means no turret. Just forward blasters. But since this bad boy can hold 30 men, I can easily see three crew slots and perhaps even, the ability to hold more than one modification. Some kind of combat refit.
But this thing wouldn't honestly offer a whole lot that our current shuttle doesn't already, and I hate to say that. What's more, is that the Upsilon class Shuttle is just...
It's just way, way more likely.
And I really do feel bad that the Sentinel appears to offer just nothing, because I love that thing.

What happened to the Decimator?

they want to spam TLTs.

Pretty much this. Plus it carries Missile(or at least, it did in the EU).
I never get why people harp on about "Gunboat, Gunboat, Gunboat!" it looks nothing like any of the fighters in the Imperial Navy. Let's see, TIE Fighter, TIE Advance, TIE Interceptor, TIE Bomber, TIE Phantom, TIE Defender, TIE Punisher, Assault Gunboat......one of these things are not like the other. Irrespective of the nostalgia train people seem to be on with that fighter, I think it's a load of tosh and makes no sense in the greater lore about the Empire. Why have all these TIE craft and then have one craft that isn't a TIE that already has TIE class ships that fill its role ala the TIE Bomber, Punisher, and/or Defender.
What would the Sentinel Shuttle bring to the game?
Another cool miniature to add to my small but growing collection. Perhaps more than one ![]()
Is there any other reason needed?

While I kinda agree, it's justified in the lore by the Gunboat predating all those other fancy TIEs you mentioned.
Yeah, TIEs with shields, and hyperdrives and ion cannons became a thing later, but for a long time, no existing TIE had any of those things.
I don't LIKE non-TIE Imperial Starfighters. And I'll never understand why the makers of Star Wars: TIE Fighter didn't just create 2 more TIE types instead of the Gun and Missile Boats. But there is reasoning for their existence in the lore at least.

Because in SW Ties are swarm ships that die in droves as soon as Special Snowflake in X-wing takes aim.
And player IS a special snowflake
so he needed something SPECIAL to take and not be meatshield (and justify TIE not being fodder)
so BOAT line was created.
Can't say I'm a fan, but mini-lambda with teeth and reloadable rockets sounds good to me.

Hypocrisy overload! I've seen some of the things you've wanted for Scum...

The Gunboat was created FOR X-WING, BEFORE TIE FIGHTER WAS A GLINT IN THE CODERS EYE!
It was created because they needed an enemy fighter that could match rebel ships, because the TIE series were too fragile. The Defender and Missile boat (and to a lesser extent, the Avenger) are however examples of this.
To answer the OP's question though. Sentinel I can see as an Epic Lambda, like the Gozer is an Epic Decimator. They aren't turreted - trust me, I was playing x-wing alliance yesterday and tangled with a couple. They are basically Cygnus GR75s.

Well, we still don't have any toys to begin with, aside from omnipresent K4 Security and R4 Aggromech
still want more crew options
for everyone ![]()
What does the Sentinel bring?
A bigger Lambda.
I think it would be cool, especially since ive had the Lego Version for Years!

Do you think It will come with these overly-sized missles?
and that's not 30 troopers!

Because of the big missles!
Edited by Sir OrrinRather than the Sentinel on a large base, I'd rather see the First Order Transporter from the new movie on a small base. It can carry 20 troopers, has a turret on the top. The ship is shorter than a y-wing, but could support 2, maybe 3 crew. A true support ship.
Give it multiple crew slots, Primary Weapon Turret Value of 1, decent hull with one shield, poor turning, but fast speed forward.

I don't necessarily want the FO transport, but I would definatly get it.

We'd be missing the Bespin 2 pilot weird bubble craft thingumys.
