Mon Mothama's Flying Circus

By Spaceman01, in Star Wars: Armada Fleet Builds

I am playing on running this list on Tuesday. I thought of this as a fun what if kinda deal. I know the CR90 swarm is a thing, but I wanted to try something similar but with a twist. Unfortunately I only have 3 CR90s. I decided on the MC30 as it can speed 4 and spamming navigate on it will get a bit more maneuverable. I want the whole fleet to run Engine techs, but that isn't the case for the MC30s. The A-wings are for filler/ ting up enemy fights. The plan is to get into the rear of my enemy and attack. I know I'll probably get curb stomped with this list, but need to try the strange and crazy :) .

You may want to change one of the frigates to a torpedo version and leave the points for an initiative bid.

I would think that fire lanes might be suboptimal as your shorter range firepower might not stand up to the likes of mc80 or ISD lists. Would Intel Sweep or Dangerous terrain be more beneficial?

I really wasn't sure what to pick for the yellow mission. I think maybe HyperSpace Assault is better than Fire Lanes. As for the Blue missions I am already running Superior Positions, though not really sure if one of the others would be better.

Yes, sorry, I clearly got confused. Yes, hyperspace assault would be better I feel. As far as the blue, I worry that 4 Awings isn't enough to capitalize or hold off enemy squadrons, though you do get the deployment advantage. I would still advocate for Intel sweep for the extra points...

Ok I replaced the objectives and I decide to swap both MC30's to the torpedo version. Which gave me some points for Tycho.

Personally, I would drop the engine techs off of the second Corvette to add ordnance experts on both MC30's. You will want the re-rolls to get the crits for APT.

Made a very similar list this morning, might as well share here:

Differences with your list is no engine techs on corvettes, because they're already very mobile, plus an 8 pts upgrade on a 44 points corvette is a little bit wasted to me. Also, thanks to Mon Mothma, I think CR90b are better at the job than a's while costing less. On top of that, I really like having my MC 30 ready to take and give a beating, thus all the points in upgrades. Squadron compartment is crap in both lists (one thing to consider is you will never ever issue a squadron command with those 1 squadron ships), but having 5 very resilient - courtesy of MM - ships makes up for it.

That's my 2cents, anyway.

Edit: about objectives, our lists are quite different because mine has an emphasis on mc30's, while you are spending the most on corvettes. If I were you, tho, I'd give opening salvo a try: not only you got 5 ships = 10 dices, but said dices can be black. That reeeally adds up quickly: just imagine what "my" admonition can do with first and last activation (likely) and 2 bonus black dices on top of the 7 she's already throwing. Hope this helped,or at least gave you a slightly different perspective to a similar build.

Ok, here's my version. I haven't tested it yet, but this latest iteration of mine dropped an MC30 for Salvation, as I was finding myself wanting some long range firepower to finish off fleeing damaged ships. I'm finding the ordnance loadout (ACM's for damage damage damage) pairs up best with the Ordnance Experts. A crit on each attack (decent odds) means four extra damage on top of the dice results. Stripping shields on all facings leaves the CR90's able to contribute even if they approach on another vector. Haven't tested it yet but have high hopes...

I am flying a very similar list and am loving it. The YT-2400s look at when is a good time for them to tie up bombers or just start attacking ships while the titled MC30s get in close for the kill and the CR90s skirt and shoot. I found out the hard way that Fire Lanes is a terrible choice of objective recently and switched to Hyperspace Assault, which would probably go to either Admonition or Foresight. Fun Fact: you can get double side arcs against large ships with MC30s if you position them almost touching in the front arc.
