Since this has gone on a tangent:
But it was such a great thread!
We must get it back on topic!
Did we decide if Infinite Backpacks were 'Legends' or 'Canon'?

Legends is defunct though, we can't talk about it. Stop it! We had that one thread telling us we weren't allowed to anymore!
Canon, but retconned I believe.....
Curse you, Disney and JJ! We hates it forever!
(Oh never mind, the EU is defunct apparently, and we can't talk about it )
Is EU pronounced "E-U", or "eewwwww" ?
Oh, Haley. You have no idea how much I love reading your posts, and seeing how far you’ve grown.
I mean, don’t get me wrong — I also loved to read your posts a long time ago, when I first discovered this forum.
But now?
We've been a horrible, terrible influence on poor young Haley.
We've made her innocent little mind as sarcastic and smart-ass as the rest of us 'lifer gamers'.
I for one am thoroughly
ashamedproud!
Fixed that for you!

Harry Potter.....is dead!
He was killed while trying to escape with the entirety of the the EU on his back!
Oh, wait, sorry, wrong genre. Or was it retconned in?
Edited by Vestij Jai GalaarI have always enjoyed Haley's posts...We just have to figure out how to get her in all our games....If we put a backpack on yoda does she fit? or does it work the other way? What if we put a back pack on a exogorth? Can the exogorth then fit 5 falcons?
Here's what our group did to help with encumbrance issues:
We came across a maintenance droid with no owner (tragic shootout), we reprogrammed it to regard us as its master. We then gave it the military pack, utility belt and the heavy load gear (I think that's what it is called) from Desperate Allies. If I recall this correctly, it has an encumbrance capacity of 19. Was a little expensive to do, but it's funny and the droid makes its unhappiness with the situation very clear. It occasionally gets shot and we have to dump stuff, but we fix it later. We named it Mule.
Anyway, better than two backpacks.
No one in my game has had encumbrance issues yet, but I'm sure it's only a matter of time. So far they leave everything on their ship, including the massive locked chests of antiques one player's Twi'lek politico carries around.
The most I could see anyone using would be2x utility belt crisscrossed around the waist1x Load bearing gear2x back packs one front one backmaybe carrying 2 back packs one in each hand which would keep them from using there hands.
Big problem there...
Load Bearing Gear is essentially a Utility Belt with shoulder straps.
And the moment you put a pack big enough to matter up front, you can no longer wield a 2-handed weapon effectively. It's in the way.
Then again, what we carried in Basic at Ft Dix was a surprisingly large amount just on the LBE...
2x Canteen, 1L ea
2x Ammo Carrier Box (holds 3-4 M-16 mags, plus two grenades)
1x E-Tool
1x Poncho
1x Bayonet
1x Compass
1x Pressure Bandage
1x minor first aid kit (and a mini-sewing kit was usually tossed in as well)
1x flashlight, L-shaped. (which meant one could use the flashlight hands-free, since it was affixed to the strap.)
We would put the backpack on on top of this. Adding, in pack, mess kit, shelter-half, MOPP suit, gas mask, roll of duck tape, change of uniform (except boots), and (if not being worn) field jacket and helmet.
In an "urgent move" situation, sling the M-16, throw the LBE over one shoulder, the pack over the other, and bug... when you get to formation or vehicle, set the pack down, put the LBE on, pocket the soft hat, don the helmet, then put the field pack on.
There was no room for anything else... what wasn't hung with gear was needed space to use one's arms.
