No "Chopper" as astromech slot?

By Fuzzywookie, in X-Wing

Really? That's kinda odd FFG didn't make this happen.

Nope he's a crew card instead. That way he can go in the Ghost.

There is no astromech slot to put him in on the two ships

We still have no Imperial Droids let along astromechs.

It's hard to know what to make him, he is rebel only but he is literally the salvaged mech symbol too.

Who would be foolish enough to let R2's evil counterpart in their astromech slot?

Chopper fits in the little ship on rebels. ???

They could do an astromech Chopper in the future but he's more of a big ship monkey.

Its not FFG style to release a card that can't be used within its own expansion, so no astromech card, but he is a prime candidate for a future release. Some cruel self crit inducing effect for a powerfull bonus?

That only happened part way through season two. This expansion would have been in development and playtesting before season two even started.

Not yet. Important word, right there. Yet.

R2-D2 astromech and crew cards weren't released at the same time either. As soon as we see a Rebels ship released that has an astromech slot, I'm sure we'll see a Chopper astromech card.

Well, there was the Most Wanted Expansion that came with 3 crew and a Firespray-31 title. And a bunch of pilot cards, ship tokens, and maneuver dials.

But that's kind of a special case. You have to buy or own at least 3 other ships to make use of all the extra content that came in it.

Rebel vets gotta have some kind of astromech. That'll be the first opportunity since rebels material was fair game.

Which actually makes me wonder why there isn't an astromech slot on the attack shuttle

The hyperdrive and Astromech bay on the Phantom are both after-market modifications. Probably made specifically to Chopper's dimensions.

Chopper is also smaller than other Astromech droids, he barely fits, and so no other could be used. I have submitted a picture as evidence:

because that was only introduced in season 2

Wave 8 was leaving development last summer, before season 2 even finished production.

ACTUALLY...

The Phantom got a refit to accomodate the newly installed Hyperdrive, which required an Astromech to control it. But the thing is, Chopper can ALSO control the ship itself.

The modifications for the hyperdrive and its requirement for an astromech is a very recent change to the Phantom. Prior to this it had no slot for any astromech.

Technically, did we not see/hear about the Ghost's torpedoes this season?

Why do we not have an IT-O droid that can hang out with the rebel captive and add another stress to ships attacking. Why not a mouse droid that...does...something. Imp droid crew, make it happen!

Oh, the CZ 'death star' droid, he can give out some tokens for sure...maybe.

Makes me wonder if the will figure out a way to release an attack shuttle only modification that adds an astromech slot.

Maybe - take 1 hull damage to give 1 crit. To opponent. ???

Chopper is about as annoying as Jar Jar Binks.

Lies. Chopper is great. He's like the love child of R2-D2 and HK-47.

Unless I see Chopper in an astro slot outside of the shuttle I don't see it. Besides, he's acting as a crew and pilot for the moment, so I don't see the issue. It will be nice if/when we see him in that role, but we can wait. We just got three new astros with the T-70 stuff and Integrated is already changing things in a small way.
