My first tournament is in 2 weeks, need to improve my squad!

By Dentego, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Hi! Everything's in the title! Here's my squad :

YT-1300 - Chewbacca : Predator, Experimental Interface, Lando Calrissian, Nien Nunb, Millenium Falcon

YT-2400 - Leebo : Determinaton, Heavy Laser Cannon, Outrider

Should I stay with my two yts or should I buy another small ship to be fully competitive? This build has been successful against my friends, but I don't know if it'll be against more meta squads. All I have for now are the FA core, Millenium falcon expansion, Outrider expansion and two solos cards (predator & determination).

I feel like any Falcon build should have 3PO to last a large focus fire. This isn't true in all cases. Just seems to be the very dominant build for it. I've been wanting to fly a Falcon with Coran but really need that 3PO

One of the more effective combos is Han or Dash coupled with a smaller ace (given what you have, that'd probably be Poe Dameron), so that's a viable option. Given what you have available, I might run it like:

Han Solo

-Lone Wolf

-Dash Rendar

-Chewbacca

-Millenium Falcon

-Engine Upgrade

Poe Dameron

-BB-8

-Predator

Total: 95 points (gives you some leeway to switch/add things)

As for your dual YT's, I would remove the Lando/Experimental Interface combo- too many point for too uncertain of an advantage. Maybe consider something like:

Leebo

-Dash Rendar

-Outrider

-HLC

-Determination

Chewbacca

-Predator

-Millenium Falcon

-Engine Upgrade

Total: 99

No two ways about it, the Falcon's best (almost essential) defensive option is 3PO- but I can understand your limited card selection at the moment.

Why take Predator on Poe? Wouldn't PTL and Autothrusters be better?

They would, but the OP doesn't have either.

Oh. That makes sense. Well OP mentioned maybe buying one more small ship. OP mentioned buying one more small ship. A Star Viper and an A-Wing would solve that issue. If you can't get a hold of these cards, then just focus on building what you are most comfortable flying.

I heard about Corran Horn as a good partner for Han or Dash. Could buying an e-wing is a good option?

I'd endorse it- but he really does need R2-D2

Coran needs R2 and FCS. I run him with VI sometimes as well.

So what's my best option if I don't want to buy Tantive IV?

Either borrow a 3PO from a friend, get one on ebay, or look in the big trade thread (the latter is how i got the x1 upgrade cards without getting the Raider)

EDIT: Unless you're referring to R2-D2, in which case: you want the Astromech Upgrade version of R2 (not the Crew Upgrade version, the one in the Tantive IV), found in the original Core set. If you can't get your hands on one, try the above options as well.

Which small ship doesn't require R2 or 3PO to be good? I don't have much card to trade them and they're expensive even on eBay (I'm from Quebec, shipping is 20CAD minimum). Thanks for your help!

Poe works well with BB-8, and I've seen Wedge used effectively with it as well. Miranda Doni has built-in health regeneration and is a good TLT carrier.

B-Wing aces don't get very much love, but I think they're a viable option for a YT partner.
