Adar Talon, Yavaris, and squadron of choice. Effective?

By danielhollisjax, in Star Wars: Armada Fleet Builds

I was wondering about running Yavaris and Gallant with Adar Talon aboard Gallant, Using Adar Talon to activate wedge, Luke, or whoever is needed for 3 firing activations. Is this worth it? I would suspect Luke could really lay the hurt down and take out a Victory. Has anyone tried anything like this? Thoughts?

One issue is that you're using 3 commands from GH, but Adar only affects one squadron. You'll have to ensure you have enough squadrons overall so Yavaris' commands are not wasted.

Lots of people have used this, to varying degrees of success. Depends partly on your comfort and ability flying GH and Yavaris together, which can be tricky.

Sometimes I stick Adar on a CR90 to achieve a similar effect more cheaply.

rogue has changed how you can use Adar. He is now better value.......

Place him on Yavaris to support the high end end rogue, dash or Han....

You can activate them into place in the fighter phase, double shoot in the next round ship activation phase... then move and shoot again in the fighter activation phase and repeat until Yavaris or rogue is dead.

In effect you are giving Han or dash three times the firepower...... That's dash delivering 3 black reroll bomber dice per turn with a 4 move ( feel the pain) or 12 blue fighter dice (again with a number of rerolls and a reposition move.....

Also you are only using a single fighter command to use Adar not two as in wave one.....

Yavaris, dash ( or Han) and Adar is going to be my favourite new thing.

I was thinking of running with 6 squadrons. GH would activate 3, one of which gets its toggle reset. Then Yavaris, with expanded hangers and Raymus Antilles gets the rest. I like GH for the Damage Reduction. But your right. I have to be great at maneuvers.

Never thought of using Dash for this as well, but it works. I like Han better going solo, due to his awesome ability. Using a ship to activate him is a waste. wedge is just as good in my opinion as far as anti squadron than Han when using Yavaris anyways.

Keyan, Dutch, or Luke make the best Adar Targets. You use Adar on a different ship to move them into place so that when you activate Yavaris they get to shoot twice.

Once Adar flips the activation tab on the Rogue, can the Yvaris use it's remaining squadron command to use the same Rogue?

No

To further clarify, all the squadron commands from one ship execute simultaneously. Then Adar kicks in. Its best to put him in a ship other than Yavaris, so that then Yavaris could indeed activate the ace a second time, with double tap effect.

Jondavies is suggesting a different strategy, one that in not quite groking.

What is groking?

I ran a Rieekan list last week against a two VSD, Glad, Raider list. Took one Vic down in 1 turn with Luke and some luck and a card being dealt to him from hitting an asteroid the turn prior. Assault Frigate with Adar moved Luke up to the Vic rolled a crit/hit on him. He braced the hit down but still got a Structural Damage. He tried to activate his Vic out of the way but I had the AF parked in front of him, 1 more damage card. Then Yavaris activated Luke again with no movement Luke rolled another crit/hit on both attacks. He then blew the brace on the second crit/hit and yanked yet another Structural Damage. Now he was up to 5 damage cards....the last attack from Luke yet again rolled a crit/hit and for some Star Wars Armada god granting me the power of Structural damage yet again blew that Vic up....the dude was fuming! I now know without a shadow of a doubt, Luke will NEVER do that again....

9 damage 1 round, for what 37 points.
