What's the most work a ship has done for you?

By FlightyBombJack, in X-Wing

Was flying PS8 BroBots in a summer kit tournament last year, Top 4 match vs PS10 Horn and PS9 Dash. Did one damage to Dash, then IG88C rolled about 9 blanks in a row and died.

IG88B proceeded to solo both ships and won the match.

I've beaten a Soontir Echo Doomshuttle with a Soontir Whisper that had a 21 point initiative bid. Leaving out the third ship gave my opponent nothing to kill, haha.

Hey, I got initiative lol. Thinking of flying the same squad except with a PS 1 Comm Relay FO at 97 points. Figure a blocker should help me more than the troll point fortress will and 97 points is a safe enough bid, no one else dares fly novelty initiative bids in my area.

Ye olde prototype a wing, every time, man. Especially during epic games, that flying triangle spends the whole time getting shot at with only 1 hull left and survives like a champ. I once had a single prototype wind up in the guns of half a epic fleet, complete with multiple hlcs, and survive for multiple turns, even when he was the only target, then turn around and block entire entire fleets while in the furball. A-Wings forever.

Biggs. Every time.

He either eats all the shots or he makes all the good rolls. Wedge + Opportunist = Solid proof that dice hate me. Biggs takes a shot? 4 Crits. 3 Hits and a crit. All blinks and I have a focus. One HP left on Vader? Biggs takes a range 3 potshot, one hit. Vader blanks. Soontir range 1 of Poe and Biggs? Poe scores 2 crits, Soontir evades with all 4 dice. Biggs fires, gets 4 hits, Soontir blanks. Goodbye Ace. Thanks 25 point damage soaker, you've won me yet another game by shooting better than the best Aces. For no reason.

It's like he has this aura of stomp around him...

Late last year ran a 2 Mangler Scyk and Predator Engine Glitterstim Talonbane agai st a mixed Alpha Acadamy Swarm with Howlrunner and ATC Vader. Talonbane flanked and got behind the swarm. The Scyks died without a fight, then Talonbane proceeded to kill an entire 100 point squad alone. It was a thing of beauty. As a note. I was playing against a player who often beats me, and has beaten me at multiple events.

My Poe with VI, Autothrusters and R2D2 take out soontir omega leader and one other Tie/FO

I was 1v3 and I won :D

Last year I was playing at 120-point tournament, flying Wes, Keyan, Wedge and a Tala against a friend with Wes, Keyan, Ten and Cracken.

The initial exchanges went badly for me, and before long I had a full-health Wes and 1-health Tala staring down his full-health Wes, full-health Cracken, and unshielded Ten. My Wes was in a fairly safe position, but the Tala was at range 1 of both Ten and Cracken.

It was at this point that the Tala decided that he wasn't going to let me lose without a fight. Over the next two rounds he refused to take any damage, annihilated Ten, and combined with Wes to murder Cracken. The opposing Wes finally finished him off on the third round, and in the end I could only manage a draw, but the little guy had single-handedly transformed a certain loss into an almost-win.

Not bad for a 13-point grunt.

Had a game just after the Interceptor came out. Turr got ioned on like the second turn of firing, 3rd turn again, then off the board. Don't remember what my third ship was, it didn't last long. Soontir manned up and killed essentially 3 undamaged Ion turret Y's on his lonesome.

Last year at Regionals in Denver, I was running Whisper/Echo/Mauler. In my first game, Echo went down on the send turn of firing without having done any damage. Whisper came back and almost won the match. second game, Whisper went down early and Echo pulled a ton of work.

When I first started playing at stores I was nervous and I was playing against the local store champ for the first time. I was running IG's and was playing awful. I had a full health IG-88B and IG-88C with one HP and hadn't done a single damage to his Palp Shuttle, Fel or any of his TIE fighters. In a move of unparalleled brilliance I flew IG-88B with full health off the board. Leaving me with one HP left in the game. My opponent I think expected me to concede and was a little miffed when I disengaged and flew away. The pressure was off as I expected to lose and all of a sudden I was a leaf dancing on the wind, predicting exactly where he was going to go and where he expected me to be. After finishing off his TIE's I caught Fel where not even boost and barrel roll could save him. He came up all blanks and the Emperor had already been used. With only the shuttle left my opponent conceded.

I know I'll never play (or roll!) as good as I did that day again, but it's fun to try!

I've told many a story about the glory of Bandit Seven. Sadly I haven't been using Rebels too often as of late, meaning he hasn't seen much table time recently.

But let's tell a story of a different hero today. Let's tell the story...

... of Graz the Hunter.

Played a three-way game this weekend, figured it'd be an interesting time to test out my "I'm going to a tournament full of newbies and want to bring something silly" squad. Graz with Glitter and Shield Upgrade, two MangleCrack TPVs, and Kaato "Hey, I'm on a table!" Leeachos with Homing Missiles and Crack of his own.

Leeachos mostly sucked and died, never getting to launch that missile (I was desperately trying to line up Carnor Jax, but he kept flying away while the other player swooped in behind Leeachos... frustrating, because I was a quarter range away from launching a Focus+TL Missile at Jax out of a K-Turn, which would've been beautiful). The TPVs... actually wrecked house before they died (200pts of enemy ships, survival wasn't much of an option for them). Still, Crack Shot and Mangler results in some nasty damage that left a Bandit and Wedge Antilles falling in back to back turns to them.

But Graz? Holy crap, his ability won me the game. I can count four times he took some enemy fire and that extra dice pulled through for me, including a perfect triple evade roll against a Juke equipped Omega Leader. Took a R1 shot from Carnor Jax earlier and had two Evades, only taking a single damage... which hard to say if for sure that was because of the extra dice or not, but I'll happily count it. Still, there's about 3-4 damage he avoid that game that, any other Khiraxz, would've died from and he didn't.

And there he was, with a single health left, when he delivered the winning kill shot to "Blue Ace".

Today it's been a glorious day...

Quarter finals of our league here in Palma de Mallorca (Spain) at Goblin Trader shop... Almost mirror match, my Guri+Latts+Ywing vs my enemy, Guri+Trando slaver+z95x2. Everything goes bad, Latts bites the dust pretty early, my Ywing autoblasters his Guri in his final shot(that Ywing is the other hero), but now is my 4-health Guri vs 1-health z95 and 10-health Trando (with Bossk+Gunner...). Guri kills the z95, but Trando slaver with his combo had left Guri with only 1 health and no shooting back... and with the crit that Guri cannot perform a red maneuver without risk of blowing up! so... Benny Hill Time!! After pursuing the Trando Slaver for more than 20 minutes, finally Guri gets the killing shot!! EPIC WIN!!

I was amazed with Guri, please marry me!! (don't tell that to my girlfriend...)

Edit: she lets me play x-wing!
