What's the most work a ship has done for you?

By FlightyBombJack, in X-Wing

I remember one game, I had one obsidian squadron pilot, the last ship left on my side, take down 3 AC TIE advanced before dying. That pilot will forever be remembered as a hero *salutes his fallen plastic space ship with manly tears in his eyes*.

Do you guys have any stories or memories of just one single ship in a squadron you had that did an amazing amount of work on the board?

I was flying a mirror match of Whisper / Soontir / RGP against Whisper / Soontir / Tetran. I had Whisper one shot by his Soontir in the same turn my RGP one shot his Whisper. RGP was brought down shortly after that without doing any more damage.

I flew my butt off with Fel to take down both of his Interceptors and win the match, all thanks to the fact that he took initiative so his Whisper could fire first, but it allowed me to arc dodge like a mother ****er with Fel.

It was probably in one of the tournaments I've been to. Borrowed a Han/Corran squad from a friend who flew something else instead. Faced a Chewie/Leebo squad and botched the beginning of the game, getting Han killed after hitting a rock, then flying of the board. To be fair, I flew off on purpose because it gave me one last good shot on Leebo to bring him to 1 Hull before I would've been shot down anyway. Luckily, Leebo also clips a rock and offs himself. All this is to set up a full health Chewie against full health Corran endgame.

...30 minutes later, full health Corran has won the game. I won't say there wasn't some luck involved, because both my opponent and I finally got in a rhythm. It was beautiful flying and Pushing the Limit on both our parts. With 8 more health on his side to begin with, I didn't think I had a chance... then suddenly the first shield came off Chewie and I had hope. Then another and another. Meanwhile, anything that came off Corran promptly got regenerated. Until finally, victory! Definitely one of my most fun and memorable matches to date (thanks, JETxGREEN!).

I went up against a Scum swarm of Kihraxz and Scyks with Manglers. I was running ruthlessness Vader and ruthlessness Chirpy with Palpatine and Mara. I lost Vader in the joust to some truly awful positioning and dice rolls that even Palpatine couldn't save. I still had not done a single point of damage to my opponent.

I then proceeded to completely wipe the floor with the rest of his list, always getting 3-4 hits/crits between Palpatine and Chirpy's ability, getting ruthlessness every turn. He kept blocking me but all of my modifications didn't care. One turn I killed two ships with one attack. Mara ultimately saved me by keeping his ships from k-turning. He didn't even get my decimator below half health before everything was dead. I still don't know why people consider ruthlessness a bad ability. It's awesome in two ship lists.

My Storm Squadron Pilot. I throw that guy to the lions every game I fly him and he only hasn't gotten his pockets off once. Thats why he's flying the solid gold swagvanced.

My green squadron pilot has refused to die on one or two occasions... Also Captain Jonus likes to cheat death to whenever I fly him.

I was flying Deathrain with proton bombs and munitions upgrade. I was flying against 6 Z95's. My squad had already taken out two of the Z95's and Deathrain had already dropped one bomb that had dealt a damage to one of Z95's hull while its shields were still intact. On what became the last turn of the game, Deathrain dropped his last proton bomb, boosted, and moved away. The remaining rebels all moved withing range of the bomb which was able to kill them all with one blast.

The proton bomb is under Number 9.

The damage cards dealt from the bomb are on the mat.

first a funny weird one that isn't quite perfect: My opponents damage cards were sticking to each other, and sucks for him, but they were all stuck so that direct hits were the showing face (lol!).

My carnor blops a Y for something ridiculous, like 2crit and a hit, add a crit with palpatine.

hit, takes a shield, crits: double double something.

6 total damage. Off a 3 die ship.

Another time I was trying a crazy 2 bomber + shuttle list vs Fat Han + Miranda. This was pre-mov.

I kept messing up my bombers cuz I wasn't used to flying them... but then the shuttle did the unthinkable, did a 3/4 full lap around the map, through a thick asteroid field, and blopped Han for 8 of his 13 health by itself over the course of the game.

Omega L

Howl runner

Zeta L

Omega squadron

And wampa

Walk into a tournament

Everyone fixates on wampa and howlie, and then on the big bad presidente

Meanwhile, Zeta L kills everyone

And I do mean almost entirely everyone

Ps 9 Jake + wedge + Jan? Zeta L killed them all. He took Wedge head on and came out aokay (the poor omega squaddie, not so much). Later, Howlie was the bait and Omega L was the scary Australian shepherd that Jan and Jake ran from. Zeta was the wolf :)

I had a 3 StarViper list when Scum had just came out. It was an unforgiving list that did a lot of good work but would fold if you made 1 wrong move, you had to be smart! Well, one time I was anything but smart against a Tie-swarm. I lost both Guri and Xizor with only 2 out of 7 ties off the board. Well, they were Obsidians at PS 3 and my enforcer was alive, and I just saw how bad I messed up. So, my brain engaged and that Enforcer took out 4 ties by himself. Block at angle, shoot modified, S-loop, shoot unmodified, rinse repeat. When time was called, he was at 3 health no better than an Academy tie.

Love that little enforcer.

Last night, a K-Fighter with Glitter Stim and Crack Shot, engaged at R3 and target locked lead Tie fighter in a 3 BSP cracks hot/ howlrunner swarm tactics with Baron Fel loaded out...so I engaged @ R3 and TLed the first Tie and decided to use my Glitter Stim. First shot from Howlrunner is Hit Crit, I roll blanks and get a weapons malfunction( reduce ATT die by 1) next Blk Sqd rolls Hit Hit and I roll blanks again so I'm totally bummed out. Then it's my turn to attack, and I figure that since I have 1 Hull left why not take a shot at Howlrunner instead of my TLed Tie, I roll Focus Crit, change it to Hit Crit and Howlrunner rolls 2 evades so I CS one of them and the Crit goes through and turns out to be a Direct Hit. So my pot shot worked and now I faced 2 Blk Sqd CS backed by a limping Howlrunner, somehow I survive both attacks and live another turn. My next maneuver, Instead of trying to clear stress and live, I did a 4 straight right into the heart of the already moved swarm and block most of howlrunners movement so we bump and I get a shot on the target locked guy, I roll HIt Hit Crit, and he blanks with a TIE. Meanwhile my K-Fighter is at 1HP, with an active Crit, and a stress token. Fortunately Kavil came into polish Howlrunner off with his autoblaster turret and I cleared stress next turn, didn't get a **** the follwing turn because I K turned and somehow Soontir danced behind me and lit me up for 4 natural hits...I ended up winning by flying Kavil through a debris cloud to end up adjacent to fell before he moved and autoblastered him as well..also in this game, my Z95 had a dead mans switch and it worked when a TIE killed him at R1 of himself and ended up sacrificing himself for the Empire.

TL;DR KFIGHTER LAST NIGHT IN THE CRAZIEST GAME IVE PLAYED YET

Time for me to tell that story again:

Nera Dantels, with RecSpec, Advanced Proton Torpedoes and Deadeye, next to Jan Ors. Rexler Brath gets into her range one, I pull of my combo with 6 hits, Rexler blanks and is instantly dead. Casual nonsense can be so much fun :D

Since the Raider dropped, Colzet. Hands down. First few times I ran him, he was ignored and just kept handing out horrible crits. Thereafter, he became the main target, which let everyone else do their thing pretty much unharassed (amazingly, even when I had 3 AC Tempests with focus and TL, holding prockets at R1).

Special mention goes to Blount with AHM. When he's not one-shotting Corran or Whisper, he's popping the SD off Fel at R3 through an asteroid.

I have 2. My second epic game, I run Gemmer rich at Echo to get a procket shot off. Range one of echo, and at range 3 of an entire howl swarm.

Echo fires, Gemmer has five evade dice (stealth device/ability) and doses the whole thing, immediately one shots echo, and proceeds to not take a single hit from the howls warm while tokenless.

Last year Atlanta regionals, after loosing iggy B quickly, my 2 starvipers began a course of action that kept isardfronever triggering in the enemy decimator. A combination of blocking onto debris, and a crit making all the hard turns red ensured that not a single evade was taken that game. Those vipers carried me all day.

back in wave 2 -

I had a bounty hunter, soontir w ptl, and some ties - flying against a falcon and bwing/xwings. I very quickly lost the bounty hunter and the ties - soontir took a damage, and I did like 2 shields to the falcon. From that point on, Soontir went on to destroy all three of the opponents ships and take the game.

My MVP in the escelation league that we ran at our local club was undoubtably a Schimitar Squadron TIE/sa. It got to the point where people were prioritising going after Scimitar 2 over everything else I had on the table. That little bomber just kept on surviving and killing for me.

A 12pt Academy Pilot I deployed as bait and raced across the board.

He took on Fat Han for 5 rounds straight and managed to do 6 damage (with C3PO on board..) before dying.

We couldn't believe it.

Best points I've ever spent.

Mine's is quite tipical. Royal Guard, AT, Stealth Device, Predator. Good dice rolling, his AGI 1 mates were wiped out and he faced 3 intact B wings. Simply I rolled consistent 2-3 evades, no scratch. No skills involved ( well, Boost when it was needed )

I once had Zeta Leader finish off both Soontir and Darth Vader all alone. I went after Palp, killed him, meanwhile his aces were harassing me. He focused on Howlrunner, then killed 2 blackcracks, and finally El Presidente. I had 2 hulls left on Zeta L, against wounded Aces. Darth Vader is away, 2 straight, survive Soontir, shoot him, full. He throws dices, all blanks. Dead.

Then turn to face Darky, he k turns, out of range. 2 straight, focus, 2 straight focus evade. Range 1, hit hit crit, I evade everything. I shoot, 4 dice, hit hit hit. Throws dice, all blanks. He had 2 hull left. Boom. :)

Game we were playing for fun, we made lists with a 55 point Unique large base shop escorted by two generic small base ships with an ept and one upgrade off there bar. I was running Han Shoots First with two E Wings Vs. Super Dash(Mangler) TLT K wing and a T-70. My opponent ended up nailing my E Wings pretty hard and they were off the board. His generics are shield less and Dash is missing a few shields, I went "Don't worry! I'll take everyone out with Han!" Said jokingly. Well, I did. Took out his generics first and first hit was a crit on dash, the one that takes out his secondary and I destroyed that quickly. Needless to say Han is always a beast.

My best single producer was an Ion Cannon Dagger Squadron that in the course of the game killed Whisper (ioned off the board) and Vader (range 1 quad crits) before taking a single shield hit. I was so proud of him. Made my opponent really wish he hadn't focused so heavily on killing my aces. I still lost. :D

a 14 point filler scyk said NO WAY! TIME TO OWN MATHEMATICAL PROBABILITY!

and solo'd two Tie Defenders.

My palpmobile squadron was nearly decimated by the ruthless decimator..Vader got focus fired in turn 2, Soontir gets the ruthlessness and perished soon afterwards and things looked pretty bad. That is until Palpatine jettisoned the Omicron Group Pilot and decided to flew the shuttle by himself! He Landed R1 4 crits without palp's ability on the shieldless decimator followed by R3 3 crits with palp's aid. He then spent the next 4 rounds blocking & shooting down the remaining 2 PS1 FOs.

TLT/RecSpec/Prox Mines PS2 K-Wing last tourney season. Was always the last ship left, always the one killing stuff, and always the game-winner for me. Went endgame against Wedge solo once, trounced him.

Proper Rebel workhorse ship that one *single tear* so proud...

I've had the Red Baron run the table more than once. Even where he is my only pilot to hit anything.

Had a game where Wedge tore through a half dozen TIES in as many turns. Had him with Engine Booster and Outmaneuver with Jan Ors flying close enough to give him extra attack dice and ETahn Abaht turning hits into crits for him. He was rolling hot that day.

Recently played a 300 Epic game where the Bright Hope was the star of the show. It plowed through Youngster and Redline, jammed up Rexler, forced the Gonzati to bump a few turns in a row, pulled off TL and Focus tokens with Toryn Farr (especially off of Redline who couldn't keep at TL to launch his ordnance!), added stress tokens with Raymus Antilles and managed to do some damage with Cluster Bombs and Slicer Tools! Finished the game with 1 hull point left and slowly recovering shields.

Screwing with the opposing players ability to take/keep actions and maneuver effectively kept the Imps busy enough for the Corvette, Poe, Ello, and Hobbie to do their jobs with ease. Only lost Hobbie, Poe was damaged but getting shields back with R5-P9 and Ello was full health with R2D2 in the backseat. Corvette did take some damage but was able to repair it all with the Construction Droid and Shield Recovery.

Next time I try this build I think I'll switch Raymus for the WED-15 repair droid. The few stress tokens he hands out aren't quite as useful as making sure the Transport can stick around to support the fight.
