Why pay for glaives and then not use their EPT? And that buff shuttle is paying for PS and a durability upgrade in a list that I'm not sure warrants it - that's a lot of points in a 2 attack ship, and no extra powerful synergies going on to make the shuttle a priority target.

I presume by the comment on juke this list is intended to be flying what you have with the coming veterans expansion? I can get the motivation, but I think you really want EPTs on those Defenders, even more than the mk2 engines.

Assuming this is the price (and I suspect it's actually 34pts so Vessery pays a 1pt tax for his bonkers ability) you've got a pair of aggressive brawlers and a ps10 ace who loves to hang at range.

If the price drops, you can slap on mk2, or hand then both Juke, or lose the title on the Inquisitor and outright slap on Predator... Which would rather raise their lethality, especially against generics in the joust.

Glaives zoom about, inquisitor hangs back, watch the everything's explode.

Juke over Crack if you always have evades imo.

Scimitar Squadron (16) + TIE Shuttle + Mara Jade + Rebel Captive + Mk. II = 23

Use the PS2 Shuttlebus as a tanky blocker with Mara handing out stress. Totals at 95, so you could maybe bump a Glaive to Rex to hit 97. Rebel Captive could be switched with Fleet Officer, but if you're using it as a blocker you may not stay in range to use it. RecSpec could work too, for added defense.

I would be very surprised if glaives are 35, if they aren't 33-34, that would be extremely surprising.

If Glaives are not at least 3 points cheaper than Vessery, I would take Vessery over a 2nd generic every time. His pilot ability is easily worth 1-2 points.

They haven't shown the points cost of any of the new Defender pilots. Really have no idea how they are gonna handle it.

Like I told you in another thread, we will not see a generic that is the same price as another generic with lower PS. Now I will echo that Vessery's ability is top notch and well worth building a squad around to facilitate it. Hence why I'm looking forward to Vessary+Juke+x7+MKII then toss in 4x Zetas. Very stress resistant list, will be fun to fly. Got a defender painted up just for that list.

Reason I'm saying 35 is to highball it, that way if they're cheaper than it's all gravy. This isn't a thread about their cost, it's about possible builds.

True, but then he's easier to hit. The whole point is spoiling shots for people. Also I'm not really fond of Kallus. He's potentially alright, especially if the list has an Ace in it, but half the people I play just take generics, or lists where there's no clear optimal choice. And against full Swarm lists he's utter garbage. Also the unending Crack supply makes him the clear Enemy #1. For this list, I like the idea of the opponent not having an obviously best choice to make, I want them to have no great options. The point is to force wasted shots more often, and drag them into an attrition battle where the free evades and white K become an almost inescapable advantage. At PS 5-6, they can outmaneuver most generics, you can give your opponent initiative if you plan to do a lot of barrel rolling, and you still get your actions/blocking against high PS aces.

Not at all. If that's your local meta, it makes sense. Kallus is always in my mind with imperial builds as there's a lot of 2/3 ship and lone ace builds here. His value diminishes greatly against things like Crackshot swarms and generics.

Although, it sounds like that Scimitar blocker with Mara and a captive is ideal if you're generic heavy. Even swapping one of them for a fleet officer to pass off occasional tokens when in range isn't bad. If there's one thing a ship with Juke loves, it's a target with no actions. Stress is just icing.

I would argue that the bomber being enemy #1 is in no way a bad thing. That leaves the defenders to do their nasty work.

Maybe, maybe not. Personally I like it when the opponent has to make a tough decision. It puts pressure on them, and gives them a chance to screw up.

One i have been thinking about it two glaives with juke and toman bren with fleet officer and cool hand. If done right you will end up with a focus, evade, and target lock every turn.
