Coastal NH X-Wing League needs pilots!

By 1mikethebuilder1, in X-Wing Organized Play

I'm starting up a league here in coastal New Hampshire. Looking for pilots! Will provide tutorial and demos for new players. Casual play to start before we move up. Age 14+

What store are you going to playing at? If you create a facebook page for the group you'll have some good success pulling in people from the area to play and help with teaching any new players you find.

I'm starting it up at the Seabrook Library, Wed nights from 4-7. Also putting up a facebook page - Seabrook NH X-Wing League. Placing ad posters in common areas but what I think will draw prospective players in are the demos and tutorials. People need to see it in the open. The Star Wars ships on the mat draws us all in (worked for me!). As far as I can tell this game is little known in this area and there's only four groups in the whole state, all too far to drive on an afternoon. This could take a little time and that's OK.

I'll spread the word to our Maine players, I don't know if we have any that close to the border but it can't hurt to get the word out!

I'm located on the North Shore in MA, fairly new to the game and looking for groups to play with. How is this group coming along? Still playing every Wednesday night 4-7?

I work in Salisbury, MA until about 4 and could easily make it to Seabrook on Wednesdays. Let me know!

Toys N Things in Danvers, MA has an X-Wing crowd that meets on Sundays. Might be worth getting in touch with them for some regular gaming. It's a nice hole-in-the-wall friendly gamestore. Visited with some other Mainers for their store championships in January. I recommend checking them out.

(29 minutes by Google maps from center-of-town Salisbury to center-of-town Danvers)

Excellent! I'm actually very familiar with Danvers, I grew up there. I was going to call them and find out when/if they had X-Wing game nights.

Any idea WHEN on Sunday's this group usually meets?

No idea

My "local" gaming group extends from Scarborough, Maine and northward to Bangor, Maine.

I'll give them a call then. I appreciate your reply.

You NH and MA guys should consider coming to our Store Championship on Feb 27th - Scarborough, ME is only 45 mins from the border and we will have way more C-3PO cards than we need :)

****, our LGS in Amesbury, MA is having a tournament that same day at noon. It's a little closer for me. If it were on a different day, I would be there!

Thanks for your interest! There were four potential players but none of them could seriously commit so I disbanded the group for now. The Toy Soldier in Amesbury Mass hosts X-Wing three nights a week, very close to you in Salisbury. I just joined up with them. There's about eight of us in the group, all adults who are veterans at the game and we're having a hoot with the Aturi Cluster campaign. They're even having tournaments at the end of the month. Send Mick a message on Facebook and ask if he's looking for some more players. I recommend purchasing a small ship there or something to make a donation to the cause. He's got a good selection of ships on hand. Bills to pay, you understand.

I still want to start up a group of my own and am holding out hope for that someday, but the fact is it's much easier to host a group like this at a gaming store than a library where no one knows about the game. Recruitment will be tough outside of a gaming store but I'd still like to try. I even bought some life-size cardboard cutouts of Darth and a stormtrooper, an extra playmat, and a bunch of awesome recruiting posters I put up at the library and school. I printed up the updated rulebook and the new FAQ with all the errata so we're ready to go in case of confusing situations. To play in the big library function room with a dozen of us running dogfight matches on Wed nights with a champion at the end of a season would be a dream come true. Only postponed for now, but will still work on it!

Hope to see ya soon, keep in touch

Mike

Hey Mike,

I actually met Mick on my lunch break last week and made numerous "Donations" to the cause at his store .
I intend on making a Wednesday night or Saturday session before the tournament. But I WILL be at the tournament at the 27th. Already have it penned in. I'll see you there!

If you ever want to play casually on a weekend, please don't hesitate to drop me a PM.
