Hey y'all. Just recently started playing pen and paper, really fun.

You know how career skills cost 5,10,15,20,25 and non-career skills cost 10,15,20,25,30?

When creating character and picking career and specialization, do all 8 career skills become my career skills and do I only get to pick 8?

There was argument amongts friends that you only get to pick 4 out of 8 career skills and 2 out of 4 bonus career skills and you get a free rank in them and those you picked only those become your career skills and you only get the discount (5,10,15,20,25 in contrast of 10,15,20,25,30)

or do all the 8 career skills + 4 bonus career skills become your career skills and you only pick 6 of them for them to get a free rank?

The wording placing in the career papers is confusing: "He automatically gains one rank in four of these skills without spending experience and receives a discount when he spends experience to purchase ranks in any of these ranks"

Hello detectiveweewee . Nope, didn't expect to type that today.

They all become career skills. The ones you choose just determine which skills you get free starting ranks in.

On a similar note, if possible, it's XP efficient to double up on starting skills from Career and Specialization. The first rank is only 5xp, but the second rank is 10xp. Therefore, if you can double up, it's an extra 5xp of value.

Also most people in this forum tend to advise spending XP on Characteristics first and only the remainder on skills since characteristics can't be increased in general. (Just a tip, since a lot of new players miss that.)
