Green Attack Dice

By Kiwi Rat, in Star Wars: Armada

The general concensus is that Red dice is Turbolaser, Blue dice Ion canon and Black dice Ordenance.

But I remember from all the PC Star Wars games I played back in its heyday, that Imperial Laser canon and Turbolaser canon fire was Green.

And that got me to think up this little idea for Green Attack Dice.

FFG should make an upgrade card where you can exchange (for example) all the blue attack dice on a ship with Green Attack dice.

The Green Attack dice should have the following facings:

1) Blank

2) Blank

3) Blank

4) 2x Accuracy or Blank

5) 2x Hits

6) 1x Accuracy and 1x Hit

7) 1x Accuracy and 1x Crit

8) 1x Hit and 1x Crit

The main idea of the above is to make the properbility of getting a hit or an effect with a Green Attack dice smaller, than any of the other Attack dice in the game, but on the other side pack a good punch when you do get a positive result.

Anyway, just another wacky idea from the Kiwi Rat

But please feel free to comment ^_^

What would be effective is cheaper, more effective ways for Imperiale to get Accuracy results or better effects out of them.

I think a great Commander ability would be for Accuracy results to exhaust readied defense tokens. Would make all those Electronic Countermeasures much less effective

5 double sides + Vader = Broken.

Hmmm....

Don't think it's a great idea sadly

Couldn't tell you why

Screed your way to a crit / acc or a crit / hit from medium range? Umm... why would I use any other commander?

The general concensus is that Red dice is Turbolaser, Blue dice Ion canon and Black dice Ordenance.

The General Consensus is, however, incorrect.

This is shown by the MC30 Torpedo Frigate.

Well, it works as a rule of thumb. It just isn't universally applicable.

I could see green dice being a thing, but they'd make more sense as something only available to Huge ships (If FFG decides to create Epic Armada)

Red just means long range lower dmg.

Blue mid range better accuracy and dmg

Black short range but high dmg.

Cause some rebels ships like defence and paragon can toss black dice. Or the mc30 that can equipped turbolaser upgrades and yet has no red.

I dunno about that Dras, the store championship range ruler has the Turbolaser icon for red dice, ion cannon icon for blue and ordinance for black. I think they just decided to give the Torpedo Frigate a turbolaser upgrade slot.

We need Green Dice!!

Just make a set of red dice - exactly the same game performance, just a nice Imperial turbolaser green.

Werent the Worlds ones black and gold or something? Surely its possible.

I think bringing a new dice color to the game would be a possibility for FFG to bring a completly new layer of ship to ship combat into the game. Up to now, from my point of view, we got 4 different ship types in the game:

- imperial front arcs(front arcs in general): ISD, VSD, Nebs

- rebel side arcs: MC80, AFMKII

- close combat warthogs: MC30, GSD

- fast 'flankers': CR90, Raider

without adding a new combat layer, i couldnt imagine a ship which is not matching on of this 4 groups. Green dice (or any different colored dice) could open a new aspect..

My point is, if it is fact, then the Turbolaser slot on the Torpedo Frigate can never be used by anything other than enhanced armament... Because Turbolasers = Red Dice, and unless you're taking those, you don't have Red dice...

Also, personally, in regards to the range ruler - if its not written as a rule or a fluff piece its mostly anecdotal to me in the first place... Double so when its on a product that is not available to purchase, and even if I did have it, its entirely possible that I may not get to use it, due to the way tournament rules are.

I guess, for lack of a better term, I'm not contesting the "rule of thumb" concept - it may be anecdotally so, but its not a truth in order to base rules on...

You want someone to pay pts to spend blue dice which can be 1-4 and still have no gurantee they will get the result desired because it rolls like a Red Dice?

It would be as popular as point defense reroute circuits!

Ackbar. :)

But strictly speaking, you're right: turbolasers are not exclusively applicable to red dice. Just a generally reliable rule of thumb that ships with red dice tend to have turbolaser upgrade slots.

Maybe green dice could be used for buffing friendly ships with accuracies extra dice, bonus hull or bonus shields? Perhaps something a command upgrade card could provide. Titles for a dedicated command ship could then allow you to re-roll this dice.

The dice could be included in the package with said command ship, for rebels or for imperials.
