The "What other customers who bought this item also bought" on those Yoga mats....
YUP. I lol'd.
I bought from eBay 2 36" x39" table protecters £12 each, cut them to size & there fine. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/120498695474
My solution was to get a 6'x4' industrial rubber floor mat from Lowes. I spritzed it with some spray paint to add in some nebulae & stars, then separated the 3' play area from the 6" card area with a chunk of cardboard and some more spray paint. Red on one side, blue on the other.
The mat cost me about $35 and about a half hour.

I decided to make my own as well. I figured while I was at it I may as well make it magnetic too. So that's what I did. It works like a charm, though the magnetism isn't nearly as important for Armada as it is for X Wing. Haven't done custom paint job yet though.
Why not simply sell an Armada mat for $60 dollars and make everyone happy?
A couple reasons. One it may be more than $60, if 2 of them are 80, one may be 70.
Also they then can only sell that mat to Armada players, X-Wingers won't buy a 3x6 mat. Why would they cut down the number of customers they can sell something too? They'd have to feel they could sell enough 3x6 mats to make up for the loss of sales of 2 3x3 mats.
I bought a $20 yoga mat (tip from the Armada subredit), which works pretty good. I am fortunate in that the official mats are provided to use on a first come, first serve basis at my FLGS. I ended up breaking down and buying one of the starfield ones, and then will most likely get the Bespin one.
that's what I did I bought a wide yoga mat which is 72" x 36" for $20 and I air brush it myself.
I rather spend the money on more ships anyway.
Plus my gamming store well not carry the mat, the overhead is too much he only makes 5 bucks per mat.
plus I think they are over price. home made is the away to go.
I caved and bought the star field....I admit...it looks rather good on the table!
I went with a 6'x3' black sparkled felt from Joan's: $8.
Some things are worth the investment. I mean, these mats look great and are made of quality material.
They make a courscant map...and I'd buy it in a second.
