A holdout blaster firing targeting a target at "short range is a EASY attack difficulty. The holdout blaster has a range of SHORT.
Question 1: Is it possible weapon with the range of "short", to target something at medium range? If not, why is short range for the weapon in question an EASY difficulty?
Question 2: Is firing a weapon that has a range of LONG, still an EASY difficulty rating at short range? Does the fact that it is a long range weapon hamper it at close range?
Am I overthinking this?
Clarification about Blasters and Range
1. No, and because that is what the rule book says.
-Base Difficulties are set based on the range to the target in personal scale combat, not on the stat of the weapon.
-Ranges for weapons are the effective ranges for the weapons. There is a Talent called Sniper Shot that allows a PC to add range to their shots for increased Difficulty. It is also present on an attachment or two.
2. Yes, and no.
-I've personally always been much more accurate hitting targets at 20 feet than I have at 1000 feet, so not only does closer not hamper, it's usually a good way to hit what you are aiming at.
-If one becomes engaged with a target, then it begins to add Difficulty to the check 1 for Range(L) and 2 for Range(H). A crowded, narrow, restricted environment is represented in the form of Setback dice is applicable.
3. Yes
Edited by 2P51Thanks. What you are saying is my understanding of the rules and I just wanted to confirm I wasn't missing something (before I have a rules lawyer hold things up). ![]()
