Need suggestions on 6-7 ship swarm or rebels or scum.

By ywingrebelpilot, in X-Wing Squad Lists

I love the Y wing with R2 Astro, thats really maneuverable ship with 8 hit points. I have at least one in almost every build. I love naked z's, integrated t-65 and t-70, refitted a wings, naked b wings or with tactician. It's to find the right balance of cheap ships and ships with 3 attack dice and have 6 or 7 ships. On the scum side I like y's, z's, m3-a, and the kihraxz fighter.

Im thinking of trying

Y wing

-r2 (19 pts)

X wing

-r2

-integrated (22 pts)

B wing

-(22 pts)

Z95 x3

-(36

Total 99 points

34 total hit points, 6 attacks, decent number of green dice. Only problem is I would to get more fire power, maybe autoblaster on y wing instead of r2? Any ideas?

Well, there's

Xizor (vi + thrusters + virago + thrusters)

5 pirates

[97]

You could do the rebel clone with

Poe (vi, r2d2/r5p9; thrusters)

5 bandits

[97/98]

I have a strong dislike of Zs, though, as they're stiff and VERY dice dependent in my experience and you NEED them to 6 ship in rebels/scum

You could rock 6 As but that's not my department (only ever maxed out at 5...really fun, though :D)

Unturreted Y is awful. You'd be better off with just about anything else, even a hull upgrade. NEEDS a turret, with or without BTL-a4

Stress hog (btl-a4 + r3-a2) would really help crappy Zs pin down elites like soontir

Here's one that I was going to try out today.

Y-Wing with R2 and TLT (25)

Z95 x4 (48)

Total 98 points

I'm going to proxy one of the TLTs, but if it proves to be fun and reasonably competitive I'll buy a second K-Wing.

The game theory would be that whatever target is chosen both Ys concentrate on it, with the Zs blocking/attacking it also.

All six ships have the same PS, so sequencing shouldn't be a problem.

I'll post back with the practice results.

A strong Rebel swarm is "Tarnation", now with Integrated Astromech:

Tarn Mison (23)

+ R7 Astromech (2)

+ Integrated Astromech (0)

6x Bandit Squadron Pilot (12)

With 3 points left you can put some kind of torpedo on Tarn in case you ever get the chance to use it.

My suggestion would be flechette torpedo. Enemies don't generally like shooting at Tarn, but if doing so means he can hit them with a stress token right back, they definitely won't want to shoot (especially after a k-turn!)

A wing y wing with r2 is very maneuverable, why is it a bad ship, it's a bunch of cheap hit points.

I only got a chance to play one game with this today, but it held up against a Poe + 5 build.

I think it has enough possibilities to play a few more practice games with it, anyway.
