Basic Imperial TIE list using ships I have

By kustenjaeger, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Greetings

I am just starting out and want to build a basic Imperial squad from the five ships I have so I can test out various Rebel and Scum combinations.

Assume I will proxy upgrade cards as this is for solo or possibly casual use.

Current Imp ships:

Advanced TIE

2 TIE fighters (from Core)

2 TIE interceptors (from Aces)

Potential opposition are X-Wings (2), Y-Wings (up to 2), Z-95 (up to 3), A-Wing,B-Wing. Khiraxc, StarViper.

If there is one (small) ship that would make a difference this would be useful to know as I don't mind buying another ship but want to hold off on large ships or extensive purchases until I am more versed in how to run various ships.

I have an offer of a game or two but want to have the basics down first and get some of my business travel out of the way first.

Thanks in advance.

id recommend a phantom, or the interceptor pack that way u can reinforce your arc dodgers with soontir or have cloaking shenanigans

The Phantom can be hard for newer player to use effectively, but I agree that it would be a good purchase as the expansion is relatively cheap for the points you're fielding and it would be nice to have a variety of ships when you have has few as you do rather than getting an Interceptor pack basically just for Soontir Fel (as awesome as he is). Additionally, I find that people that use a Phantom early are forced to become better players faster as they have to think about when and how is best to cloak/decloak.

Imperials are tough to learn on, but if you like a challenge, you can learn a lot more flying imperials than other factions (imho) because you are forced to really take into account your opponent's moves in order to succeed (and predicting your opponent is how you win games). Here's something you can fly with what you have (well, except Vader's upgrades):

Vader w/ predator, x-1 title, advanced targeting computer, proton rockets = 36

Carnor Jax w/ push the limit, royal guard title, hull and shield upgrades = 36

2 obsidian squadron pilots = 13 x 2

98

Fly the obsidians in front of Vader and keep Carnor Jax a bit to the side. His job is not so much to attack the enemy at first, but to get behind them and to stay within range 1 of enemies to deny their ability to take focus and evade actions with his ability.

When you start feeling more confident with this fragile list, you can fine tune it even more to make Vader more slippery:

Vader w/ predator, x-1, ATC, engine upgrade & proton rockets = 40

Carnor Jax w/ push the limit, royal guard, hull upgrade & autothrusters = 34

2 academy pilots = 12 x 2

98

Downgrading to academy pilots might not seem like a good idea, but it is because it allows you to get blocks on any opponent of higher pilot skill so that your two aces can kill the enemy faster. Blocking is a powerful tool that its important to learn to do effectively if you want to be successful with imperials

Good luck!

Thanks for all the replies. Definitely food for thought.

Using the ships you have, you could run the following:

2x Saber Interceptors with Push the limit

Tempest Tie Advanced wit TieX1 Title and Accuracy Corrector

Tie Dark Curse

Tie Night Beast

This would allow you to use all of the ships you have with some proxies.

I think the TieX1 title is only available in the Imperial Raider expansion

It is, but the OP did say they're not opposed to using proxy upgrades.
