Lets Talk the Neb-B

By arrest7, in Star Wars: Armada

By having many, many ships with 2 blue dice each flak, I guess.

I think the most extreme force I can think of is 6 x Nebulon B frigates with X-17 Turbolasers:

  • Nebulon-B Support Refit - X-17 Turbolasers, General Reeikan
  • Nebulon-B Support Refit - X-17 Turbolasers
  • Nebulon-B Escort Frigate - X-17 Turbolasers
  • Nebulon-B Escort Frigate - X-17 Turbolasers
  • Nebulon-B Escort Frigate - X-17 Turbolasers
  • Nebulon-B Escort Frigate - X-17 Turbolasers

Coming in in a tight 'wedge', you get the advantage of X-17 turbolasers that pretty much all your damage slams in on the one facing. With most players (at least locally) using big ships that depend on redirect, and ECM/Advanced Projectors as defensive refits, essentially taking redirect away as an option makes them the best weapon upgrade going in my mind.

With a general concentrate fire order, you can theoretically hammer an enemy ship with 24 red dice in one turn....

I find that you don't need the Nav Team to make the Nebulon-B work. You just need to be aware of dice potential.

Wait, aren't the Red die facings three single hits, two misses, and then one each of Accuracy and Crit and double hit?

Nebulon B spam...I like the sound of this...could be nice to have an oddball list out there.

Yet how does the neb heavy list deal with fighters/bombers?

Yes, to make, the most, not to make any effect, or even any positive effect.

That is hardly "Pointless".

I would argue that your most extreme Nebulon force is:

6 Neb B support with TRC. Dodonna. 2xYT-2400.

You take Dodonna because cheap, and also because the crit flip ability on the TRC means that in cases where the double damage will get braced, you take a free crit (or, in general if you want to crit fish with Dodonna) instead.

Fine, you win this one. I think it is a waste though.

Having tried Dodonna and Mon Mothma, I have to say that Mon Mothma has my vote every time.

Normally I would agree, but if you intend to use TRC every time and the Neb only has one evade, MM has no effect.

Also he's cheaper, so you save the 10 points to get one more TRC.

Again, theory, but my view is the Neb is naturally fragile so if you want to use one, you go all in on alpha striking.

For 6 pts each... Definitely more cost effective uses of those points.

Agreed. I'm not stating its the bees-knees, either... I do find that, even if I do two damage after a brace (which may only be 3 beforehand), I'm still reducing the value of a redirect by 50%, and keeping, thus, 50% more damage on the facing shield of my choice.

Its not the most efficient, and certainly scales up in efficiency as you increase the amount of dice - and the damage dealt, but its still useful based on even a smaller platform.

Only XX-9s are a cheaper Turbolaser upgrade, and HTTs are identically priced...

But indeed, as Stasy intonated, there are still probably more efficient ways of spending those points.

But even then, I own 4 Nebs and only 1 each of the MC30 and MC80, so its not like I'm scrimping points to put TRCs or Slaved Turrets on everything anyway. :)

I was thinking of a 5 Neb build with some fighter support.
