Adaptability (-1) and R2D6

By Rakaydos, in X-Wing Rules Questions

A blackmoon squadron (PS3) equips R2D6, gains an EPT, selects Adaptability. +1 PS is fine, perfectly legal. But assuming the card can be flipped in play, what happens to R2D6 when PS drops to 2?

Nothing.

Would be the same thing as if you drew the crit that lowers your PS to 0. That of course is assuming you flip the card and get a -1PS, opposed to equipping the card and getting a -1PS before the game actually starts.

R2-D6 checks the pilot's base PS, not the modified post-Elite Talent.

Otherwise a Rookie Pilot could take R2-D6 + Veteran's Instinct, becoming a Red Squadron Pilot with discardable droid for Integrated Astromech.

As that's not the case, there's nothing wrong with your -1 PS scenario.

I'm not so sure about that... There is no order or timing when squad building, and it is as far as I know established that upgrades like shield, hull or VI change the base stat of the card.

They do, but will you be using R2-D6 + VI on a Rookie for a 24 point ship with Integrated Astromech?

No... Seems rather pointless. But if rather then some sort of flip mechanic, dual upgrades actually means you have to use both card in your list, so one ship gets +1 PS one gets -1 PS then it wouldn't work. Because that PS3 ship would now have a base stat of PS2.

Once he's equipped he doesn't unequip. You only discard when a huge ship flips, slot loss doesn't unequip otherwise. Integrated Astromech doesn't discard your EPT.
