Close to a year with no new products

By Crabbok, in Star Wars: Armada

I know some of you are tired of discussions about the lack of news, but I found this old post here: https://community.fantasyflightgames.com/topic/138153-wave-2-announced/

This was when we first heard about Wave 2. March 17th. It doesn't look like we are going to get any new Armada products revealed this month, especially with rebellion taking center stage on the FFG homepage. So once February hits, it'll mark month 11, which puts us close to a whole year from the last time we've seen a new product for this game announced.

I know that wave 2 actually came out more recently, and not everyone's pockets are eager for a new purchase every 3 months... but as much as I LOVE this game, I feel sad going this long without the spoilers of new product.

Wave 3 is all Rebels TV stuff, they can't do a reveal without spoiling the show. Just wait for spring.

This only my pet theory, and wild speculation, but I look like a genius if I'm right!

Admittedly, while I am looking forward to Wave 3, I haven't even had a chance to use my Wave 2 ships. I'm still working through getting them all in Sir Willi's microhangars.

Yes it's been 10 months since we've had news of new products but that isn't even remotely the same thing as what your topic claims.

We just had a whole splash expose week on Star Wars: Rebellion.

No-one got any news in the meantime (apart from an FAQ, I think)

So perhaps regular programming will apply next week....

Judas Priest! Wasn't there already a thread of people complaining that they haven't seen any new ships for Wave 3? Enjoy what you have! Besides... We got new play mats!

Wave two is pretty dense. I don't think it has been really digested yet... Besides, after the wave two announcement and ensuing silence during the delays, I think minimizing time between the announcement and release would be a great move.

They could be trying to develop a nice comfy release pattern. For a game like Armada, I'd take one wave annually right after Worlds and be happy as a clam. :)

I think this is on point.

We have a Pelta and the new Hammerhead ships for rebels, but both are small base. For Imperials, we have the Arquittens, (Small), Interdictor (Medium), and there was at least one new Imperial looking ship shown - looked something like a Vigil in that super spoiler for the rest of season 2. Maybe they have to wait until a certain episode.

Possible theory - Suppose that eventually, in Star Wars Rebels, they showcase a Rebel Ship that is comparable to the Executor? I know that sounds crazy, but that would pave the way towards ultar epicly huge-normous ships in Armada.

Do I really need to quote my entire research post on FFG's miniature business model again?

I think we need an Armada to crush all that Rebellion ;)

Well, their latest post on Miami Dice - they did say that they'd wrapped up on Rebellion, but not on News for the Week.

So how optimistic are you?

Do I really need to let you know that not everyone cares that you're capable of copy/pasting? You don't have to post in this thread. You don't have to post in every thread. Go find the ones that interest you. For the ones that don't, go away. Repeating the same thing many times won't stop these from coming up.

As for: "I haven't had time to play with Wave 2 even though it came out 3 months ago. I've been busy with Christmas, petting my cat, and everything but Armada. Therefore, Wave 3 should not be announced/discussed and people can absolutely not express their impatience. For shame!"

That's cool, some of us actually play the game and like to express enthusiasm. I'm interested in hearing about what Wave 3 will be, but my guess was also a Rebels wave. Oh well, I can hope they say something soon! Until then, I'm fine playing with the massive fleet I barely have room to carry. :P

Don't know where the cat came from. . . As for Christmas, just another holiday with me and a bottle of rum after work.

Personally, I have over 20 games of wave 2 in, making videos with my camcorder and am in no rush for Wave 3. Which I expect in February.

Things your "research post" suggests:

1) An estimated timetable of Armada releases based on the development of Xwing release schedules

Things to which it does not remotely respond:

1) People's sadness at the lack of a release update.

Reread the OP. He doesn't suggest that an update should have occurred, only that he is sad that it hasn't.

The multiple posts related to, although varying slightly from, this topic may be annoying, but they are easy to screen by reading the title.

*EDIT* I realize that this may have come across as an attack on Lyraeus. I have appreciated the post he mentioned in previous threads, but do not believe it applies in this case.

I feel both sides:

At this point we are really wading into wav2. (Get it?)

But honestly, I've played maybe 6 to 8 games total of wave2. Especially with the huge sullust delay. FFG that was another really terrible decision. Stop making bad PR decisions. Hire new shipping experts. Hire some real rules lawyers to talk about how your cards should be worded.

back to wave 2:

I think we all now agree, wave2 was fun, but not nearly the bliss and balancer we were expecting it to be. In fact far from it. I thnk wave2 has polarized a meta into existence.

I wouldn't be surprised if wave 3 contains ships from Rebels. That would be pretty cool with me. Honestly I haven't played enough wave two to feel like I'm missing anything, but that's more of life in general and x-wing tournaments taking up my spare time.

Right now, I'm not in much of a rush for wave 3, but I could see why some people are anxious. But this is slowly approaching the level of ridiculousness that the Super Star Destroyer threads are.

You wanna talk waiting...

Wait x number of years for Republic at War to be released on mod DB...been waiting a few years for 1.2 of that mod.

What's the release cycle for other FFG games that aren't Xwing? How often does Descent get new stuff? I've got no problem with no news. It's a fine enough game as-is.

Armada is probably not as succesful as FFG calculated it would be. I can't imagine them being so incredibly slow with releases if the SW:Armada models would sell like crazy.

I thought that also until coolstuff showed it among their top 5 sellers so it appears to be bigger than expected, on par, or just below. Getting new content out will only advance the cause. However, I think they realized some mistakes and are working on ironing them out, containing them, fixing them.
