Question about epic play

How does this combo work in Epic play?

So if the Tantive IV use the Energy ability to chose ONE friendly ship, does that friendly ship get TWO target locks?

Can that friendly ship take an action to put another target on a different ship his turn?

If the Tantive IV uses this ability, doe he get the second target lock or does it go to the friendly ship also?

I'd play it like this: the ship with the Targeting Coordinator can spend 1 energy to acquire 2 target locks (instead of 1). Then it assigns one of blue tokens to the friendly ship (and keeps the other for itself).

Depends.

Targeting Co-ordinator works on the Tantive itself as well as friendly ships - so you can acquire a TL using TC, then, because Weapons Engineer triggers when you acquire a TL, use WE to acquire a second TL on a different ship (note that WE will not allow 2 TLs on the same ship)

So in that instance you would have 2 TLs without having to spend an action to acquire them.

If however the Tantive wants to give a TL to another friendly ship, even if that ship has WE on board, it cannot acquire a second TL. This is because WE triggers "When you acquire a Target Lock" - TC Assigns a blue Target Lock token to another ship - it does not allow another ship to Acquire a Target Lock - there's a difference.

Allow me to refer you to a recent thread about this very subject: weapons engineer targeting coordinator.

But if you do, I advise you to ignore what I had to say :)

Thanks, now let me ask this. Can the Huge Ship take an action for a target lock, if so does that mean he will then have 3 target locks?

Weapon engineer still only allows you to maintain 2 target locks.

He can still take a Target Lock Action as he hasn't performed one yet - but he would have to cancel one (or both if he wants to use WE again) of his existing Target Locks

I beg to differ. TC allows the ship to acquire a TL. That triggers WE. The ship acquires a 2nd TL. After that it assigns the blue TL token (from the 1st TL, not the 2nd) to the chosen ship.

I was referring to the ship that the Tantive is assigns to TL to.

"If however the Tantive wants to give a TL to another friendly ship, even if that ship has WE on board, it cannot acquire a second TL."

Oh. That ship. I see. My mistake.

Am I correct in a summing that when the Targeting Coordinator passes the blue target lock, then ship with the blue target lock now OWNS the lock? So if you then took the TL action on the huge ship it has no locks and gets a new one? Or would you say the passed lock still 'belongs' the the huge ship?

With WE, I would think it's:

Huge Ship:

- Energy > Acquire TL A + B, give A to Small Ship.

- Action > TL Action: B is lost, Acquire New B + C

Would it instead be:

Huge Ship:

- Energy > Acquire TL A + B, give A to Small Ship.

- Action > TL Action: A (on the Small Ship) is lost and B is lost, Acquire new A +B
