Calling it. Wave 9 announcement at Adepticon.

US Nationals, take that Canadians!!! CBus, Ohio and then Gencon in Indy. Gotta love being an X-Wing player in the Midwest.

We have our own Nationals. Congrats you finally got one.

US Nationals have a new location. That's different!

US Nationals will be at Origins Game Fair June 15th-19th in Columbus, OH. That's also really early, right?

Waah? Really? The year I'm planning to go to GenCon partially for nationals on the day badge registration for GenCon opens?

Edit: I actually went and read the article, they're still doing the North American Championship thing at GenCon... so what's the difference?

Yeah, I edited my post after seeing that. First post in this thread made it sound like there wasn't going to be one at GenCon this year, it seems to just be common to refer to the GenCon tournaments as US nationals, I guess there's a distinction between the two now.

I genuinely thought it was US nationals. Edited post to avoid confusion.

Gencon was US Nationals. So "technically" US Nationals got moved and the GenCon event got elevated. Right?

Edit: Nevermind, I'm wrong.

There always was truthfully. One I pointed out many a time as people kept calling it US Nationals which drove the rest of North America nuts.

Correct. This will be the first year that a "North American Championships" has been held.

Hmm... Will we see a European Championship in the coming years?

Except for 2014 and 2015.

Semantics...who cares. Back to the point, moar X-Wing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm curious about the adepticon events. Mostly the event where they announce wave 9.

This sounds like good news:

Each year, we host the popular Fantasy Flight Games World Championships at the Fantasy Flight Games Center in Roseville, MN. This year is no different, and we’ve already begun preparing an amazing event for the hundreds of players that will attend. The event will be held November 2nd-6th. Online preregistration will take place in April and will be staged over three weekdays, at a different time each day, to accommodate players around the world.

It really depends on how they do it and what the caps are for each day. If all they do is keep the numbers the same from last year and then make the cap for each registration smaller, you're simply going to have larger group of players (due to the increasing popularity of the game, even if it more accommodating time wise ) trying for a much smaller number of spots three times instead of a larger number of spots one time. It seems like a step in the right direction, but I'm in "wait and see mode."

Another world/national event in the Midwest???? I know the are located there but it would be nice to spread the wealth!!

So US Nationals in June, then NA Champs in August, and Worlds in November-ish.

That kind of bones the entire West Coast when you consider having to get time off work multiple times, travel expenses, etc.

2 events was pushing it. 3 is too much.

Caveat: I think its a good thing to actually have a US Championship...but considering the size, population, and geography of the US perhaps it should be broken down into 2 or 3 regions.
