Would his ship need to be modified for a R2 instead of a BB unit ? Could be that. I never paid enough attention to see if a R2 could fit.

They aren't terrorists this time. And the First Order is not the legitimate government. Moral high ground achieved. =)
The Resistance is like Batman. While the Republic doesn't really like their methods and what they are doing lapses back and forth between illegal and morally questionable, they can't argue that it's nice someone can stop the Joker...or Kylo Ren... from taking over. And that Bruce Wayne.. errr Princess Leia... person seems nice enough.

I wasn't sure if Coruscant was still under Imperial control and was wondering if the First Order was just a fanatical subset.
Actually, the First Order is a legitimate state, albeit one that's flouting international arms-reduction treaties. The remainder of the Empire is a separate entity, while I think the New Republic is in control of Coruscant.
