Close quarters clarification

By gxpr, in Imperial Assault Rules Questions

What abilities on the targeted deployment card can be used when using close quarters?

Under 'attack' with different dice pool is says surge abilities can be used but under 'close quarters' is says she doesn't gain access to surge abilities.

Can someone smarter than me please clarify what she can and cannot use?

You cannot use any abilities on the targeted deployment card using "Close Quarters". She only gains it's dice pool. She can, however, use her own surge abilities.

Her own surge abilities as in the ones that specifically are meant for Close Quarters, not those on her own weapons

So, can she use one surge for strain saving?

surge : Recover 1 strain is a hero ability that is not tied to a certain weapon, it is available for all attacks.

Verena using close quarters has access to s: +2 accuracy, +1 damage (from the ability itself) and s: recover 1 strain (because she's a hero).

If she has student of battle she gains s: Pierce 2, s: Recover 2 damage and s:+5 accuracy in addition to those.

She can't use surges printed on hers weapons or their attachments.

She can use surge abilities that aren't associated with a weapon (like from MHD's adrenal vapor).

I think that's every case.

What happens if Verena plays CQ after an adjacent a melee character like RGC was killed? She uses the dice pool and the attack type (melee). Can she use the CQ surge abilities (+2 Acc, +1 dmg)? I assume she can, but the +2 Acc doesn't count as a melee attack has to target an adjacent figure and needs no Acc, correct? So for the melee case of CQ it's basically a surge for one damage. Correct?

Correct. Melee attacks do not require accuracy (unless the target has the class card Stealth ).

(Just like surge abilities from Student of Battle do not care about the attack type, only that it's a Close Quarters attack.)

I get that she has no access to a figure's surge abilities, but does she benefit from fixed bonuses, like inherent accuracy?

e.g. say there was a figure with a gun similar to the DXR-6, so rolling 2 red dice, but with +5 or whatever accuracy and Verena CQ'd it, would Verena be rolling 2 reds without any inherent accuracy?

Close Quarters explicitly performs an attack with the attack type (melee or ranged) and the attack dice of the adjacent hostile figure, the deployment card of the hostile figure provides nothing else.
