HAPPY BIRTHDAY, CUBANBOY!!
Edited by PlainsmanHappy Birthday and Happy Friday!
I had a good time tonight. I got to corner one of my friends at game night and just played two fun games with him. No tournament lists and using ones I just made up. His luck has been bad and he's won few games in months. I beat him twice tonight. I even pulled out Guri, 2 x Kihraxz, and a Scyk w/ Ion Cannon. I won without losing a ship. Still, was good to spend time with a friend. We got to BS about whatever for an hour afterwards.
Snow is coming here. We are just about on the line to really get something or not. Could be freezing rain or could be inches of snow. They say our area could get 3-6 inches, which is amazing for our area. That's the type of snow fall that only comes once every 3-4 years.
Happy Birthday CB! A toast to many more years of flying casual!
HF CB!
Have a Cuba Libre for me.
and another for me!
happy friday/sunday!
oh, and: don't drink and drive (AT-ATs.. the rest is okay
)
Oh yeah, 40 people store champ on Saturday! Lots of fun to look forward to ![]()
We actually got snow!!!! I know this isn't much for many of you, but this is a big deal here. It doesn't happen every year.

The city has shut down.

Where's this now?
Charlotte, North Carolina.
There is an invisible line north of where I live that designates who gets all the snow and who doesn't. It's about a 30 min drive north of where I live. North of that always gets heavy snow. We get what you see above...or nothing. The mountains are close and we get to hear reports of what real snow is like, but rarely ever get it. We do get to occasionally head up to go snow tubing on the ski tracks, though.

Really? They shutdown? Why? The roads are clear.I've heard that snow creates a panic in those areas when it happens. Is it because it's rare and scary?
Happy Birthday CB!

two people in NC died because of the snow i heard (or bad drivers not used to snow) Being from NYC snow is an inevitability.
I will probably be home all weekend if someone wants to get some games of Vassal in at a scheduled time?
Happy Friday and Happy Birthday CubanBoy.
Hey heychadwick, that may be be much for you but I'm in South Florida. ![]()
This weekend is wet and cold (50s) down here. I wish I had some gamers to play X-Wing ![]()
Nobody there has snow tires. Or heavy coats. Or proper road clearing materials. Or knows how to drive in snow.
Cubanboy,

Nobody there has snow tires. Or heavy coats. Or proper road clearing materials. Or knows how to drive in snow.
Well not in So Florida at least. Whoo Hoo. But we do have northerners that don't know now to drive in the rain. Does that count?

to be fair, you have Old northerners that cant drive, let alone in the rain.

Well....to start with we don't have any snow ploughs or salt/sanders. We get such infrequent snow that it's not affordable to keep it all around. No snow tires or anything.
The real danger for here is actually the ice. The snow usually melts during the day as the temp drops above freezing. Then, it drops again to freeze everything. Turns it all to black ice. That's the danger. Well, often it is even frozen rain and ice during the day due to the mix of snow and frozen rain that we usually get. That's the dangerous part.
Interesting. That makes sense. I was going to say that isn't enough to need plows ,salt and snow tires. But the melting and refreezing,I get that.
Around here its the slow moving plows, salt trucks and other various equipment on the road during bad weather that causes the most problems.
In NY the worst part of snow on the ground are
- old people who didnt fly south for winter
- new drivers in honda accords
- people who lived in NY all their lives yet somehow managed to never drive in bad weather
- Plows
most importantly.
- people from NJ
Today work told me that I must work my day off that I'd requested for my local store championship next month

And Central Florida has tourists that think it is OK to hit the breaks and throw it into reverse on an Interstate because they missed their exit!
...the price we must pay to live in Shangri La
