Hi, setting aside the idea that TLThugs are the way to go, I've been experimenting with the following Scum Y-Wing build with reasonable success, and what I'm looking for is advice on the pilot, why that one over that one etc.
The basic build:
Dorsal Turret (I've found it to be a cheap-ish, reasonably effective turret option)
Plasma (or Proton if I'm facing the Empire) Torpedoes against rebels for that extra shield strip.
Extra Munitions ('cause why not?)
Unhinged Astromech (those greens are heaven sent for that unwieldy Hog)
Guidance Chimps (making the Torpedoes more reliable)
These upgrades clock in at 9 (or 10) pts. and the question is, which pilot would benefit most, and in the case of Kavil which EPT would you ad to the build?
I like the PS4 Hired Gun at 20pts. because he's got high enough PS go go before most generics (and depending on the rest of the build might even go before other PS4 if a point is saved and/or Initiative is won). This is also the reason I dislike the Thug at PS2. To late in the game son...
PS5 Drea Renthal, her ability is a good one with this build, but the stress it generates makes her a bit of a gamble, she's also at 22pts., two more than the Hired Gun, and the build starts to become costly. Taking it slow, and just settling for that single stress for a TL for next turn (or used to modify this turn) seems to be the way to go, as it allows her to clear that stress with the many greens she suddenly find herself having with the Unhinged Astromech.
Lastly but not leastly we have Kavil, an old favorite of mine, at PS7 and a EPT (which might give him PS9 with VI) he's the best of the bunch, but costs the most, starting at 24pts., and you really want to take advantage of that EPT slot also. But which?
Kavil in this build comes to 33-34pts. + whatever EPT you give him, VI is nice, but so is Predator, for those (rare, but delicious) R1 4-Dice shots with the Dorsal Turret. But, as said, this build makes him costly for a ship that at the end of the day will go down to a round or two of focused fire, especially with the treat it represents.
What say you - in this config. - which pilot would fly this ship, and why?
