The Ghost and the Phantom

By CptShrike, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Hi folks,

My little nephew is a huge fan of Rebels and really love Star Wars in general. But when I told him that he could soon fly the Ghost in X-Wing, his eyes lit up like a Christmas tree. I've been showing him the game step by step and he's getting pretty good (for a 6-year old) so as soon as Wave 8 is released, he wants to play a Rebels-only list.

I know it's a little silly, but any comments are welcome. It's hard to build lists around stuff that isn't technically out yet, but I've done my best to give him what he wants:

Hera Syndulla — VCX-100 40

Reinforced Deflectors 3

Dorsal Turret 3

Advanced Proton Torpedoes 6

Extra Munitions 2

Kanan Jarrus 3

"Zeb" Orrelios 1

Shield Upgrade 4

Ghost 0

Ship Total: 62

Sabine Wren — Attack Shuttle 21

Push the Limit 3

Twin Laser Turret 6

Ezra Bridger 3

Engine Upgrade 4

Phantom 0

Ship Total: 37

Not sure about the advanced protorps on the Ghost. By the time you get to range 1 to use them, you will be getting 5 red dice from your main guns anyway.

That seems like a difficult list to play - a lot of upgrades to keep in mind. Some lists have a lot of 'logistics' so to speak.

The idea was to max it out to 100 points so would be fair against 100 points of Imperials. And lots of components isn't an issue, as my nephew has successfully played an epic game without losing track of his list.

APT on Ghost is not worth those points. You're paying six points to turn 3 blanks into eyeballs at the expense of a target lock. Save the points and just use the TL for rerolls because no Ghost pilot can take an EPT like Predator or Lone Wolf.

The APT is for ramming with Zeb, way more accurate than regular hit but might be better on a lower ps

That is crazy. He must be a very bright kid! Worlds 2025, watch out!

Does he count R2D2? The droids showed up in a couple episodes... If so, I would suggest switching Zeb for R2D2. Drop the adv. protons for flechette? Regardless, Kanan is a better fit with Sabine in the Phantom, and Ezra can hang out in the ghost.

I was curious and made another 2 ship, only rebels squad:

Hera: VCX100 (40)

Accuracy corrector (3)

Autoblaster turret (2)

Extra Munitions (2)

Ion Torpedoes (5)

Sabine Wren (2)

Zeb (1)

Ghost (0)

Engine Upgrade (4)

Proton bomb (5)

Total: 64

Ezra Bridger: Attack Shuttle (20)

Push the Limit (3)

TLT: 6

Kanan: 3

Phantom: 0

Engine Upgrade: 4

Accuracy corrector and ABT are a mean combo, especially with Zeb, but if R2D2 was allowed I would switch Zeb out and drop the Ion torpedo down to a flechette. Bomb choice can change as well. I want to see what thermal detonators do!

Thanks Gersun! He's very methodical, making sure he has his squad list and then works his way down the page according to PS. He also said your squad looks more fun since he can use Sabine's bombs, so we'll give it a try tonight :)

How was it? Did the list work out well?
