Working on a Rebellion Squad List-Ideas?

By ImperialCaptain2017, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Hi everyone,

I'm working on a Rebel squad list to try out in some competitions. I'm relatively new to the game, so I don't have very many pieces yet. Here's what I have:

Original Core Set (1 X-wing, 2 TIEs), planning on getting the E-Wing Expansion pack (1 E-Wing).

Do you guys have any suggestions?

OK, so I've got the E-Wing now. Here's my tentative list:

Either Luke Skywalker or Biggs Darklighter in an X-Wing

*Marksmanship

*Proton Torpedoes

*R2-D2

Corran Horn in an E-Wing

*Advanced Sensors

*Flechette Torpedoes

*Determination

*R7-T1

I want to add something else- maybe a Y-Wing? I could cut down on the upgrades to make room.

I know you're not looking to spend money, but the TFA Core Set contains Poe Dameron and he's awesome. Also BB-8. Plus you need more dice. :)

True enough. That would probably be a worthwhile purchase.

You can't run a decent Rebel list without Poe or a Falcon or YT in there somewhere. If you're planning on buying an Ewing, that's a good start. TFA core is a must if playing competitively. I think sanctioned events require the TFA damage cards now. Don't quote me on that. Getting a K for TLT almost seems necessary as well. And if you plan on running Coran in your Ewing, FCS from the B wing or Tie Phantom is Mandatory as well

Just buying the ships,as a new starter too, I've found the cards in box are not enough. I bought the Falcon only to find the famous 'Fat Han' combo missing.

Rubbish. There are plenty of viable Rebel lists that have none of those ships in them. One guy at a tourny we had yesterday came second with a list that consisted of two K-Wings and 3 Z-95s. In the end, he went down in the final to Super Dash + Corran list; but had Corran dead and Dash down to a single hull point. The guy flying Dash + Corran played at 'Worlds' this year.

There are exceptions. There was a 3 K wing list at worlds.

A good rebel build would have a bomber, an agile fighter, and fighter that can deal a lot of damage.

For example, my favorite build would be an E-wing, T-70 x wing, and a K-wing.

The T-70 x wing can deal a great deal of damage when equipped with plasma torpedoes.

The K-wing's SLAM capabilities can leave your opponent virtually defenseless and is a very a good defense against the Imperial fighters which deal alot of damage such as the TIE phantom. The Turret capability can take down and ARC dodgers.

The E wing is a good ARC dodger which can stay out of an opponent's firing arcs. It's substantial firepower can beat another fighter into the ground.

It's not a matter of there being exceptions. It's a matter of you making an arbitrary statement, based on nothing than your own subjective opinion, but treating it as if it's a incontrovertible fact. It's not.

You make think you require a Poe, Falcon, or YT to have a viable list. But that's your opinion; it's not a fact. At least have the common courtesy to craft your advice as such.

As of January 1, 2016 competitive play requires TFA core damage cards. I'm a very new player too, and looking forward to learning and competing
