D-Ring Zipper Binder

By dwaynedauzat, in X-Wing

Hi everyone. I just purchased these UltraPro binder sleeves and sorted all of my pilot and upgrade cards in them:

Pilot Cards: http://www.coolstuffinc.com/p/145696

Upgrade Cards: http://www.coolstuffinc.com/p/222511

Now, I'm looking for a binder to put these in and was wondering what you all were using. I would like a simple D-ring zipper binder, preferably with an inner pocket to store rule books.

I can't seem to find a good one.

Thanks!

A closable zipper binder is a good idea, honestly.

Currently, I have everything is a set of bare-bones (open) Mead binders, but now that you mention it, I think I'll hit an office supply store sooner than later and look for something fully closable, just for the extra insurance.

I have nothing to contribute to this topic, as I don't use these cards holders.

However, I want to thank you for inspiring me to Google 'Trapper Keepers' and gleefully find that they still exist.

You can get these at office supply stores.

I've got one called a Pro Platinum. Not sure who made it but it has pockets inside and out. I have all my pilot cards, pilot bases and bases for the large ships. The large ship cardboard fits nicely in the old 3-1/2" disk pockets. NEVER throw anything out!

Not using a 'zipper binder', myself, but rather a photo cell storage solution.

I have no idea why the Amazon photo of this thing is such crap, but it's a totally awesome system. 3-ring binder, perfect size for the 'Ultra Pro' full-size sleeve sheets, and it closes tight, with a plastic snapping mechanism. Perfectly rigid, so easy to stack, and keeps any hint of dust out.

So far, one holds all my X-Wing cards, but I've got two more for the Star Trek: Attack Wing game.

Now that is a good call, it would do the job nicely.

Also, film...**** I love film. So much better than all the digital trash these days...

Would yours happen to be this one made by Mead?

This is close to what I'm looking for.

I think I found a better picture of that binder. Is this the one?

That certainly is an interesting solution. My only issues are that it's not the D-ring type and I don't see any pockets for storing manuals. But I definitely like the rigidness. This binder box is certainly "outside the box" of what I was thinking. Thanks for providing other options to consider.

It doesn't look like it from the pictures but I've had mine for eight or ten years. Mine has a zippered pouch that's held with velcro on the cover. Open the velcro anx there's a net pouch, pen and business card holders inside. It was part of my field survey kit.

Have you checked out Staples? They have similar binders to the "Z" binder with a handle in 2"-4" sizes without the z fold. More expensive than Amazon's purple but on par with the other colors.

Where did you get the 16 pocket... Been looking for long time with no luck

I got them from CoolStuffInc.com.

They seem to go out of stock pretty quickly. I chose the option to be notified when they come back in stock. I made my purchase as soon as they became available.

BCW also has a 16 pocket page that they've designed. They also seem to be in stock at the moment. They're not UltraPro but should work fine.

Hard to say for sure, but it certainly looks identical.

And, yeah, it doesn't have any pockets in it - it really does work just for the card pocket sleeves. The rigidity of the box lets me stack other things on top of it, so for example I keep my original X-Wing core set box (I glued a transparent plastic sheet under the opening in the cover) for all my maneuver dials and manuals.

With Force Awakens, Trapper Keeper came out with some Star Wars branded ones you could look into!

For all who are interested, I decided to go with the Mead PRO Platinum Zip Binder (Gray) with 1 1/2 inch D style rings.

I originally had ordered the PRO Platinum 2 inch binder. The website stated it had D style rings. Turned out, the website info was incorrect and I had to send the binder back for a refund. I was afraid the 1 1/2 inch wouldn't be large enough to hold all my cards but after seeing it at the local K-Mart I was convinced to buy it. It works great and I have about 1/3 of the binder left for additional cards. There is a file folder on the inside of the front cover that I store my rule books and papers in. There are other pockets on the front cover for a pad, pencil and such.

Thanks for all the suggestions.

yeah i too have the older pro platinum ones. the Olive drab one i use for rebels while the black one is for imperials. i use one of the newer platinum ones for scum. but am looking for the older versions as i think they just look better. Both have full zipper enclosures. The recent addition of the 16 pocket mini card pages were a god send! I was using coin slot pages. they worked 'OK" but only had 12 slots per page.
