Kaminoan, Hombrew

This is their base stats, but as this is my first time creating a species i am looking for feedback :

Physiology:

Kaminoans were a tall, thin species with pale skin from the isolated watery planet of Kamino.

they averaged 2.2 meters in height and 80 years in lifespan. as well as males having a slight crest on their head that females did not.

society:

The Kaminoans lived in large stilted cities that rose above the ocean surface, such as Tipoca City, and saw themselves as a superior form of life, but nevertheless remained polite to the outsiders. To them any species seeking self-improvement was worthy of respect, but those who did not were obviously inferior. There also appeared to be a caste distinction between certain Kaminoans, which could be determined by the color of the Kaminoan's eyes. The highest-level caste members in Kaminoan society had gray eyes, the middle classes had yellow eyes, and the lower classes had blue colored eyes. Eye color was directly related to the type of work a Kaminoan would be used for. Gray eyed individuals handled administration, yellow eyes handled the skilled work and blue eyes performed manual labor and other menial tasks.

  • Kaminoans may start with one rank in medicine and choose a caste:
  • Gray: start with one rank in negotiation
  • Yellow: start with one rank in either Mechanics or Computers
  • Blue:start with 2 rank in athletics.
  • Ultraviolet vision: remove 1 set back die due to darkness,may see in the ultraviolet specturum.
  • Kaminoans may mot enter extremely cramped spaces, and receive 2 setback dice on stealth checks due to their height.

No disadvantages but a 5 in one characteristic? That would be to strong with just a 3 in int, given they get 80 exp

if you look you will see that they have three ones, but you're right will lower the xp to 70 due to them supposedly cloning themselves as well as normal reproduction.but back to the three ones, they now have the option to raise every thing to 2 and only having a 5 in Int.

so if i was playing 1 of these i would probably leave 2 at 1 so that i could have some threes.

I don't see any evidence of them being inherently smarter than a Drall who starts out with a 4 in intellect.

True, but then why not just play a drall?

Also this fits my vision of them,but will consider lowering intellect in order to raise either Cunning or Presence.

I would suggest that any one characteristic doesn't start any higher than 3 for two reasons: it's a general trend for species, and the the experience cost for 5 isn't balanced out properly. To get from 2 to 5 it's 120xp or 3 to 5, 90xp. Subtracting 1 from three stats: 60 pts for 2 to 5 or 40xp for 3 to 5. I would recommend a b2a2c2i3w2p1, a more standard splash, and one that won't make non grey caste at a disadvantage.

As far as the abilities go, I recommend giving them the ultraviolet, and caste distinction, or else the universal knowledge xeno rank and ultraviolet, allowing them to create the caste if their character is raised in the caste system by spending experience on what thier character should have.

Following my suggestions, I would give them 90 for using caste distinction options or 100 if using the universal knowledge

It's important to note that the species builds aren't representative of the best and brightest, but a generalization of the species. They are smart, but 5 is too excessive; 4 at most because of their cloning culture. I would say 3 for the species, and those smart few who created the cloning process and made it better are characters with the higher intellect which they gained from experience

Maybe a higher cunning. The Clone Wars series shows several of them to be quite manipulative.

An argument could also be made for presence or agility. Sure they're not fast (athlectis = running), but they're quite graceful. That more than anything else seems a feature of the species.

the castes also help represent how they expect to be treated by the rest of the galaxy

like grey ones probably expect to be paid a lot of attention and respect.and the yellow probaly feel like 2cnd class citeznes and the blue are probally okay beingg trodden over being the lowest caste.

Starting with a 5 is kind of bonkers, as others have stated. There's a reason that they don't have other races starting that high. Also, if you are to balance one of these guys, I'd highly suggest giving them a ridiculously low wounds. No way that ridiculous neck and frail body is going to survive much in the way of punishment.

True, but then why not just play a drall?

IMO, a player shouldn't play a species because it has this stat or bonus or whatever... they should play a species because they want to play that species .

My vision of the Kaminoan would be more like this:

Strain Threshold: 12+Willpower

Brawn: 1

Agility: 2

Intellect: 3

Cunning: 3

Willpower: 2

Presence: 1

All Kaminoans must choose a caste during character creation.

  • Grey-Eyed Kaminoans generally perform administrative tasks, and begin with one free rank in Leadership.
  • Yellow-Eyed Kaminoans generally work in skilled professions and begin with one free rank in either Mechanics or Computers.
  • Blue-Eyed Kaminoans are generally relegated to physical labor, and begin with one free rank in Athletics or Coordination.
  • Green-Eyed Kaminoans social outcasts, often exterminated shortly after birth. Those who survive on the fringes of Kaminoan society begin the game with one rank in any two non-career skill, but take a Setback.png during social interactions with other Kaminoans.

Emotionless. Most Kaminoans lack emotion and have a difficult time making interpersonal connections, taking Setback.png on Charm, Coercion, Deception, and Negotiation checks made against non-Kaminoans. A player may choose to remove this penalty by spending 10XP at character creation.

That seems like a better build than mine i will go with that instead.
