Elf-Stone + Long Defeat

So do I have this sequence right?

1-quest succesfully

2-place progress tokens. Place them on the active location- which does NOT leave play-- then place them on the quest card.

3-if you finished the quest card, advance to the next stage of the quest. Active location is still in play.

4-opportunity to trigger effects such as The Long Defeat

5-active location leaves play as an explored location

6-opportunity to trigger effects such as Ancient Mathom or Elf-stone

Where do 'when revealed' effects on the quest card fit in? I guess that would be after 3 but before 4?

I think the active location leaves play at the same moment that the quest is explored, you just resolve any "you've finished the quest" effects before any "you've finished the active location" effects. My guess at the ordering would be something like

1. Quest successfully

2. Place progress tokens, discard the active location and current quest

3. Advance to the next stage if appropriate

4. Recalculate the game-state if passive effects have appeared/disappeared, and resolve their consequences.

5. Resolve the When Revealed effect of the new stage, if appropriate, and resolve any nested consequences.

6. Flip the new quest card, if appropriate. Recalculate the game-state if passive effects appear in this step.

7. Resolve any When Revealed effect of this side of the card, if appropriate, and resolve any nested consequences.

8. Resolve any Responses to the previous quest leaving play.

9. Resolve any Responses to the active location leaving play.

There are two more steps

a) Resolve any Forced effects caused by the previous quest leaving play

b) Resolve any Forced effects caused by the active location leaving play.

I don't really know where to put these.

There are also a few effects based on "when you place 1 or more progress" on a location, like Lone Lands. I wonder when they trigger.

Could we have a clarification on that from Caleb ? And maybe an insert in the next FAQ.

Hm, maybe in the same 7a/7b steps :unsure: ? But if so, should they be then indeed treated as happening simultaneously - within each step 7a or 7b, respectively :unsure: ? BUT... first should go effects staring with "when" and then effects starting with "after"... O.o O.o? (@_@)

"When you place 1 or more progress" effects would happen during step 2, since that's when you're placing progress. It's right there in the text.
